Job Description We are currently seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our dynamic team in Piove di Sacco (PD), Italy ! Vertiv is looking for a Mechanical CAD Design Engineer to be part of the Thermal Management mechanical Design team within the R&D Department, based in Piove di Sacco (PD) in Italy. He/She will be mainly focused on the floor mount/chiller products. What kind of work will you be doing? Work in a multi‐disciplinary engineering team on global products focusing on high performance, cost effective design and market‐leading innovation. Design new products or re‐engineer existing ones, primarily addressing mechanical aspects (sheet metal and piping), collaborating with suppliers, procurement and industrial engineering, while being aware of necessary product marketing inputs. Create and review product documentation (CAD drawings, specifications, bills of materials). Work in a structured company using PLM system to create items and manage revisions. Meet objectives of cost, quality, environment and time of execution, achieving the best trade‐off between market and internal customer needs. Analyze and resolve technical problems concerning products under your responsibility; improve, update, and review mechanical drawings based on information from Production, Procurement and Logistics departments to simplify assembly, reduce costs and improve quality. Maintain a high level of experienced CAD skill combined with a keen eye for detail. Be available to travel on request between the Italian HQ (base) and a production facility in Slovakia. What will make you successful? Technical diploma or bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. At least 3 years of relevant experience, ideally in the chiller or HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) sectors. Good knowledge of light structural work processing (sheet metal). Knowledge of thermodynamic aspects is desirable but not essential. Excellent knowledge of 3D/2D CAD and PLM systems, Microsoft Office tools, particularly PTC Creo, and familiarity with manufacturing computer systems. Knowledge of technical norms, company procedures and basic detailed design lists. Knowledge of technical drawings. Knowledge of Bill of Materials structure and configurations. Ability to make decisions and solve problems. English – good level (written and spoken).
