Director of Business Development - South Korea We’re Avance Clinical, a Contract Research Organization. We offer specialized services supporting drug development (early to late phases trials) for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. We have a rich history in this area with our founding roots dating back to the 1980’s. Headquartered in Australia but with global offices in India, Taiwan, South Korea & the United States the last two years has seen us double in size. We’re now embarking on our next phase of growth by the introduction of two new Director of Business Development positions. Why should you join Avance Clinical? Opportunity You’ll work closely with the Global Head of Business Development, our CEO and C-suite staff to drive outbound business development of the company, lead and grow the local business development team including strategic corporate and business development activities, commercial input into business development initiatives, and nurturing investor/funding relationships. Overall you will expand our presence and capture early-phase and later-phase clinical trial opportunities from biotech sponsors across key Asian markets, with a focus on South Korea and broader APAC regions seeking access to global regulatory pathways and high-quality CRO partnerships. Duties and Responsibilities - Work closely with the Global Head of Business Development to define Avance’s business development strategy for long-range planning - Build out a robust outbound commercial and business development strategy for the company locally - Identify and initiate business opportunities to maximize the value and potential of Avance’s service offering - Develop business cases for various partnering or growth opportunities - Lead evaluation, structuring, negotiation and execution of significant client contracts, deals, and strategic pricing - Design a roadmap of potential outbound sales business opportunities, including internal and external development programs - Cultivate and maintain meaningful relationships with partners and industry players to increase Avance’s visibility and facilitate business opportunities - Represent Avance externally, including at partnering and industry conferences, and promote Avance’s service offering - Monitor competitive intelligence by keeping up to date on market trends, competitors, new markets and opportunities Minimum Qualifications - Entrepreneurial background and experience in CRO, CRO-like business, or biotech - Advanced scientific degree preferred - Significant experience (10 years) as a business development professional - Proven track record of effective outreach and successful transactions within the biotechnology/pharma/life sciences sector - Excellent written and interpersonal skills; ability to interface and communicate effectively with executive management and other functions within the organization - Can translate broad corporate strategies into clear, specific objectives and plans, and successfully executes against corporate strategic imperatives - Energetic self-starter with strong executive presence and the ability to work effectively in an entrepreneurial environment - Strategic and analytical thinker capable of standing up and driving critical workstreams - Ability to parallel process multiple projects and workstreams - Strong team player capable of leading by influence with experience navigating & influencing stakeholders at all levels What we offer - Competitive salary with great on target earning potential & incentives - Stimulating work - Project diversity - An intellectual challenge - An agile & flexible workplace - Opportunity to progress - Stability - Sense of community - A leadership team that are working together on a common goal - Flexible work options - Great tools / tech to do your job - A competitive salary, good industry benefits What next?
