The Environmental Permitting team supports the development and delivery of Microsoft’s data centre portfolio from site selection through design, construction, and handover to operations. The Environmental Permitting Program Manager will manage environmental due diligence, permit application submissions and approvals, and support compliance activities during site acquisition, design, and construction for data centre development across Europe and surrounding areas. This role involves regular engagement with Microsoft stakeholders, including legal, design, construction, operations teams, regulatory agencies, and external consultants and contractors. Qualifications Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, or equivalent 8 years of experience in Europe managing environmental impact assessments Experience with Industrial Emissions Directive/Medium Combustion Plant Directive permitting Conducting environmental due diligence and risk assessments for greenfield and brownfield sites, including site investigations and remediation Oversight of large-scale construction projects Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines Strong communication skills and attention to detail Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in multiple languages, including English Experience in community and stakeholder engagement Experience with mission-critical facilities Experience delivering projects across multiple jurisdictions End of Statement (required, do not edit or delete) These requirements include, but are not limited to, passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and biennially thereafter.
