Automation Engineer
Location: Teverola, Italy
Salary range: up to €3,200 net/monthly
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our client, an established Battery company in Italy. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, developing, troubleshooting, and optimizing automated systems and machinery that integrate mechanical, electrical, and computer systems (IPCs). Your role is crucial in ensuring smooth, efficient, and safe operations on the production line.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and integrate electrical and control systems for automated production machinery.
- Ensure seamless integration of system components such as robots, conveyors, automated assembly lines, and sensors.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to create or update integrated production systems.
- Perform regular inspections of automated systems, machinery, and equipment in coordination with maintenance.
- Diagnose faults in mechanical, electrical, or control systems and coordinate with maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot issues related to sensors, actuators, controllers, and other automation equipment.
- Program and configure PLCs (Siemens and Beckhoff) and other control systems that manage automated machinery.
- Program robotics for automated assembly or handling tasks (Staubli, Kuka, ABB).
- Implement SCADA systems for monitoring and control.
- Conduct performance testing of newly integrated systems or machines to ensure they meet production standards.
- Perform root‑cause analysis when problems occur, recommending solutions for quality improvement.
- Support quality control measures by ensuring optimal performance and product quality.
- Monitor production processes and suggest improvements for efficiency, safety, and energy savings.
- Recommend new technologies or system upgrades to improve overall factory automation.
- Assist in setting up new equipment or production lines and training staff on the new systems.
- Ensure all systems and machinery comply with safety standards, regulations, and factory protocols.
- Conduct risk assessments and address potential safety hazards related to automated systems.
- Promote safe working practices around high‑speed or heavy‑duty equipment.
- Collaborate with suppliers and other teams, including process engineering, maintenance, and production.
- Provide technical support and guidance to operators and technicians using the automated equipment.
- Assist in training staff on safe operation and maintenance of mechatronic systems.
Requirements
- Expertise in robotics, automation systems, PLCs, SCADA systems, and mechatronic components (sensors, actuators, motors, etc.).
- At least 4‑5 years of experience in related fields.
- A degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Mechatronics Engineering preferred).
- Knowledge of CAD software for designing parts and systems (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Familiarity with programming languages such as C, C++, Python, or PLC programming languages (Ladder Logic, Structured Text).
- Strong understanding of electrical circuits, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex systems that involve both hardware and software.
- Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration with engineers, operators, and management.
- Practical experience with automated production systems, manufacturing processes, and industrial machinery in the lithium‑battery sector preferred.
