QA Manager
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced QA Manager to join Stormind Games and lead the Quality Assurance function across our projects. The QA Manager will ensure that our games meet the highest quality standards, comply with platform requirements, and deliver excellent player experiences. This role requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of QA processes for video games, and close collaboration with production, development, and external partners.
Responsibilities
* Supervise the Bugboard (Jira or similar), classifying tickets by priority, severity, and type. It will be fundamental to clearly define fixing priorities for the development team and draft precise documentation, including progress reports, lists of Known Issues, and Patch Changelogs
* Manage builds on Cloud platforms (e.g., Steamworks) and coordinate the Build Pipeline. The role involves direct responsibility for Sign-off (final validation) for internal Milestones, B2B deliveries, and B2C releases (players), ensuring deadlines are met
* Manage test hardware (Devkit/Testkit) and guarantee full Compliance with Platform Holder standards. Deep knowledge of hardware/software specifications, Debug/Retail features, and the ability to create basic technical documentation to simplify access to platform-specific specifications for the whole team is required
* Maintain a 360° view of the product to identify structural deficiencies and propose solutions in agreement with Design. The candidate must be able to use the Game Engine at a basic level, analyze team Commits/CLs at a basic level, and support the Lead Developer in testing more complex and platform-specific features
* Monitor user sentiment via official channels (Steam, YouTube, etc.), coordinate with support for technical troubleshooting, and use multimedia tools (e.g., DaVinci Resolve, Audacity) for advanced video/audio reporting
* Act as a contact point ("glue") between Production, Development, Marketing, and Publishing, supporting Producers in priority management. Coordinate QA Department Leads and Testers, as well as maintain relationships with external partners' QA, Production, and Release Management teams
* Actively collaborate with all departments to deeply understand game mechanics, suggesting improvements regarding User Experience and supporting any team member in fixing or optimization activities, whether specific or generalist
Requirements
* 5+ years of QA experience, including 2+ years in leadership or management roles.
* Strong expertise in FQA and CQA; basic LQA knowledge (native language + English)
* Proven release experience on AA or AAA titles
* At least 1 title as QA Manager, OR
* At least 2 titles as QA Lead / QA Project Lead
* Proven experience in using Development Hardware (Devkit/Testkit) and related software SDKs/Tools for Sony (PS5), Microsoft (Xbox Series X|S, GDK/XDK), and Nintendo (Switch NDK) platforms
* Mastery of the Steam ecosystem (Steamworks, backend management, Client, and console commands) is also required
* Advanced use of the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) for tracking and documentation, combined with excellent command of the Google Workspace (including Google Cloud) and Microsoft 365 suites
* Familiarity with versioning systems such as Git (including clients like Fork/Bitbucket) and Perforce (P4V). Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Deployment systems such as Jenkins and TeamCity
* Basic ability to use the Unreal Engine editor and advanced navigation in the Windows environment (PC-Win64), including management via command line (CMD/PowerShell) and remote administration (RDP, VPN, Server Proxy).
* Use of software for audio/video capture and analysis (e.g., OBS) to support bug reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience managing outsourced QA teams.
* Experience with live operations and post-launch support.
Soft Skills
* Ability to deeply understand the dynamics of a Software House, possessing transversal technical knowledge of other departments' workflows (Art, Code, Design) to facilitate dialogue and problem-solving.
* Excellent coordination and communication skills, combined with a distinct aptitude for teaching and sharing skills to foster the team's professional growth.
* Solid generalist technological culture (medium-advanced level) that goes beyond pure testing, allowing flexibility and rapid adaptation to the evolution of work tools.
