At Avio Aero, a GE Aerospace Company, we have been reimagining the power of flight for over 100 years. We specialize in designing, producing, and maintaining components and systems for both civil and military aviation.
Avio Aero is focused on excellence in aeronautical mechanical transmissions, offering solutions to third-party customers and GE engines. We are seeking a Mechanical Transmission System expert to support our engineering team, particularly within the Third Parties NPI (New Product Introduction) section. This role involves providing technical leadership, supporting team workload distribution, and developing new technologies while consolidating lessons learned from product development.
Essential Responsibilities
* Contribute to the design definition within the NPI process from concept to certification.
* Provide expertise in complex aeronautical gearbox rotating components, focusing on shafts for power and accessories applications.
* Design subsystems and components, identifying alternatives and optimizing solutions for performance, cost, and weight.
* Support system definition discussions with customers and system engineers.
* Capture system requirements and support the flow-down to rotating components, including certification strategies.
* Coordinate design activities, define work scope, and assess team capabilities.
* Extend contributions to other product life phases as a technical expert.
* Lead design reviews and ensure compliance with design practices and lessons learned.
* Stay updated on state-of-the-art technologies and recommend improvements.
* Mentor young engineers and help identify key technical talents.
Qualifications/Requirements
* Master's degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
* Proven knowledge of power gearboxes manufacturing processes.
* Expertise in shafts and gearshafts design.
* Experience with complex mechanical systems, especially power gearboxes or components.
* Knowledge of gearbox requirements, design processes, and technologies.
* Proficiency with CAD (e.g., Unigraphics NX) and CAE tools (e.g., Nastran, Ansys).
* Leadership skills for managing small teams.
* Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
* Curiosity and passion for mechanical design.
* Experience with gear design and analysis tools.
* Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
* Work visa in accordance with local regulations is required.
