Ph3Junior Hull Plan Approval Engineer /h3 pRINA is currently recruiting for a Junior Hull Plan Approval Engineer to join its office in Trieste, Italy within the Mediterranean and Africa Marine Division. /p h3Mission /h3 pThe Junior Hull Plan Approval Engineer supports the development and review of detailed vessel plans, helping to identify and resolve issues related to design requirements while ensuring compliance with client specifications, classification rules, and international standards. Contributes to approval activities for newbuilds, conversions, and existing vessels, including commercial ships and yachts. /p h3Key Accountabilities /h3 ul liAssist in reviewing drawings and technical documentation related to fire protection systems, life‑saving appliances, safety arrangements, and emergency systems. /li liSupport the verification of compliance with Classification Society Rules, statutory regulations, and international conventions (SOLAS, ISM, IMO, MARPOL). /li liProvide basic technical support to clients during vessel design and construction phases on safety, fire protection, and lifesaving equipment matters. /li liHelp identify minor non‑conformities or inconsistencies in safety plans and arrangements. /li liAssist in implementing and verifying approved safety solutions onboard. /li liCollect relevant technical data for safety plan approval activities. /li liContribute to the preparation of technical reports, safety assessments, and engineering drawings. /li liSupport documentation submission to authorities and classification bodies. /li liSupport tracking of technical and financial progress for assigned tasks. /li liApply basic project management principles to manage simple activities. /li liProvide updates to the Project Manager and help elevate issues when necessary. /li liParticipate in supervised site visits, inspections, and measurements. /li liSupport on‑site safety verifications and contribute to reporting findings. /li /ul h3Education /h3 pMaster’s Degree in Naval Engineering /p h3Qualifications /h3 ul li0‑2 years of experience in ship structural design, shipbuilding, or classification society plan approval. /li liBasic knowledge of ship structure, strength analysis, and material properties. /li liFamiliarity with Classification Society Rules (e.g., RINA, DNV, ABS, BV, LR) and international regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, CSR, IACS URs, IMO codes). /li liBasic knowledge with plan approval procedures, including the review of drawings for compliance with class and statutory requirements. /li liBasic knowledge in ship structural analysis tools (e.g., Ansys, FEMAP, MAESTRO, NAPA Steel) and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Aveva Marine, ShipConstructor). /li liUnderstanding of finite element analysis (FEA), fatigue assessment, and buckling calculations. /li liBasic familiarity with welding standards, shipyard practices, and structural fabrication techniques. /li /ul h3Competencies /h3 ul liFORESIGHT INSIGHT – Context awareness adopting a systemic perspective and informed decision‑making. /li liWORKPLACE DYNAMICS – Resourcefulness in shaping progress and working efficiently. /li liINTERPERSONAL INFLUENCE – Skills and strategies we use to interact effectively with others. /li liDOMAIN BUSINESS ACUMEN – Applying a scientific approach and critical thinking in operations and solution development within area of expertise. /li liPERSONAL EMPOWERMENT – Ownership for life, work and results, striving to grow professionally and personally. /li /ul h3Equal Employment Opportunity /h3 pAt RINA, we endeavor to create a work environment where every single person is valued and encouraged to develop new ideas.
