Our client within the European Institutions is currently looking for a System Administrator to work on the provision of IT Support services for the development and operation of the local IT environments.\nLanguages needed\n\nDocker\nBash\n\nTasks\n\nProvision of IT Support services for the development and operation of the local IT environments for the project SuFiA (JRC.D.2)\nCollaboration with the Directorate D ICT Team to manage and develop ICT centralized service\nInstallation, configuration and maintenance of servers' operating systems\nPerforming minor (patching) and major Operating System upgrades as requested, in compliance with the Commission IT security policies and best practices\nPerforming preliminary diagnosis of software and hardware problems, also in co‑ordination with the central IT departments\nScripting & configurations in context of systems & infrastructure; install, configure and maintain system scripting procedures\nHandling of backups and restore operations of systems & infrastructure; manage the specific SuFiA backup infrastructure\nAdministration of scientific users in line with JRC ICT policies\nMonitoring of and responding to system and application logs (error logs, disk checks, virus‑malware checks)\nMaintaining technical documentation\nProvision of capacity planning analysis. Performing tuning activities when required\nOn demand restore customer files from the backup system\nMaintain and monitor the storage systems (log analysis to ensure availability and correct performance)\nKeep up to date the managed asset inventory\nCoordinate with the JRC IT services for the provisioning of users, hardware, network connectivity and software\nCoordinate with JRC Helpdesk for the central IT service requests\nProvide first level/second level user support to a community of about 20 users\nInstall, configure and maintain workstation's operating systems (Windows and Linux). Perform Minor (patching) and Major Operating system upgrades as requested\nAdminister Linux servers for: data gathering from external providers; databases; web applications. IT environment includes DBMS PostgreSQL, Docker, Apache, Liferay\nCollaborate with other members of the ICT team to maintain and manage PostgreSQL centralized infrastructure\nInteraction with the business analysts, customer, users, project leaders and the developers\nSecurity administration and monitoring, in adherence to the security rules imposed by the Commission’s central security service (complemented by local rules where needed); under supervision of the LISO (Local Information Security Officer).\n\nRequirements\n\nB2 level of English minimum. Any level of French is considered an asset.\nAt least 5 years of specific expertise in Linux system administration\nAt least 5 years of specific expertise in containerisation tools: Docker, Kubernetes\nExperience in Windows system administration\nDemonstrated experience in script programming (bash)\nExperience with Liferay (optional)\nVery good knowledge of Ubuntu Linux\nVery good knowledge of Container management with Docker and Docker swarm management, pipeline, CI/CD, Gitlab server management\nVery good knowledge of WildFly\nVery good knowledge of monitoring tools\nGood experience with data backup/restore tools and practices for both database and operating systems\nGood knowledge of Web Servers\nGood knowledge of virtualisation tools and techniques\nGood knowledge of TCP/IP network management\nKnowledge of master‑slave database concept (PostgreSQL)\nKnowledge on Ansible\nAbility to do basic scripting for automation\nBasic knowledge of application development environments\nAbility to draft basic conception documents, diagrams and reports\nAnalysis and problem solving skills\nAbility to participate in technical meetings and good communication skills\n
