Responsibilities: Review mechanical designs to identify gaps, inconsistencies, or deviations from project specifications and design intent. Validate equipment selections, duct and pipe sizing, and system layouts, making recommendations to optimize performance and efficiency. Ensure timely completion of technical assessments and resolution of all mechanical engineering issues throughout the project lifecycle. Compile, submit, and manage mechanical technical submittals through the full approval process. Track procurement, delivery, and receipt verification of major mechanical plant and equipment. Attend and record regular supply chain and coordination meetings to ensure progress aligns with the construction program. Maintain and update mechanical progress trackers in full alignment with the construction schedule. Collaborate closely with the BIM and design coordination teams to ensure constructability and adequate spatial allowances for installation and maintenance. Liaise with the design team, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure correct operation and integration of HVAC, chilled water, and process systems during construction and commissioning. Conduct mechanical system walk-downs to verify installation quality and compliance with drawings, specifications, and design standards. Compile test packs, commissioning documentation, and O&M manuals for client approval. Manage specialist vendors and commissioning agents to ensure timely completion and proper system validation. Participate in and lead client training sessions during handover to ensure operational understanding of installed systems. Lead mechanical design and design management activities as part of an integrated project delivery team. Provide technical input and support for design development, coordination reviews, prefabrication strategies, and subcontractor engagement. Contribute to the continual improvement of QA systems and perform project reviews and lessons-learned sessions. Provide mechanical engineering expertise to estimating, procurement, commercial, and bid teams during tender and pre-construction stages. Offer off-site technical support to project delivery teams as required. Mentor and coach junior engineers and graduates, fostering technical excellence and professional growth within the mechanical discipline. Qualifications/Experience: Third-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering. Minimum 7 years’ experience in mechanical project engineering within a construction or design-build environment. Strong background in HVAC, chilled water, fuel, and plumbing systems, particularly within data centre, pharmaceutical, or industrial projects. Knowledge of current mechanical design codes, ASHRAE, CIBSE, and relevant EN/ISO standards. Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Adobe Pro, and MS Office Suite; familiarity with energymodeling and simulation tools is advantageous. Proven experience in managing design coordination, client interfaces, and vendor relationships. Demonstrated track record delivering complex mechanical packages from design through to commissioning and handover. Strong commercial awareness and understanding of EHS, QA/QC, and commissioning processes. Excellent communication, record-keeping, and presentation skills. Analytical and process-driven, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and technical accuracy.
