Position Overview Mantel Technologies is seeking a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to design and optimize embedded hardware/software solutions for advanced defense applications. This role will work cross-functionally to drive embedded development on Mantel’s next-generation platforms, with an emphasis on system integration, performance, and adaptability. Mantel Technologies operates facilities in Colorado, Ohio, and Texas. We also welcome remote candidates based in Florida, Georgia, New York, Rhode Island, and Virginia. Responsibilities: Architect, design, and implement embedded systems for defense technology platforms. Create a wide range of next-generation device platforms, including wearables, secure communications, IOT devices, edge computing, sensor and data fusion, autonomous systems, and more. Work with a variety of hardware technologies, wireless, sensors, actuators, low-power microcontrollers, and Linux-based microprocessors. Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, textile and other teams to bring innovative products from concept to production. Optimize system-level performance across memory, power consumption, and processing efficiency. Debug hardware/firmware issues using industry-standard tools like JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in system documentation, test methodologies, and overall engineering best practices. Continuously research and apply emerging technologies to enhance our products and processes. What we are looking for: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. 7 years of experience in embedded firmware development. Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems. Strong proficiency with bare-metal microcontrollers and Linux-based microprocessors. Proficiency in scripting languages like Python for developing automation, testing, and building tools. Hands-on experience with wireless communication protocols, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LoRa, or other similar technologies. Proficiency in device driver development and common communication protocols, UART, SPI, I2C, etc. Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git) and Agile methodologies. Experience with system-level performance optimization, including signal processing, low-power systems, control systems, or other similar data conditioning (bonus). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in fast-paced development environments. Security Requirements Due to the nature of Mantel’s work, U.S. Citizenship is required. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance. Applicants with an active clearance are preferred.
