Hauptaufgaben
Incumbent serves as an Information Technology Specialist and focal point responsible for all matters concerning customer support and service (Tier II/III), information technology equipment and telecommunication services related to operations, investigating, analyzing and managing automation of office functions, processes and procedures for 509th Signal Battalion and other tenants organizations, end-users throughout Italy. The incumbent is also responsible for providing procurement, life cycle replacement, testing and other associated issues involved in office information technology/networking systems support for 509th Area of Operations. Implements policies and procedures regarding IT planning, acquisition, installation, operation, and modification of all locally installed network hardware and software. He/she responds to customer support requests via trouble tickets for 509th AOR Tier II/III operations within a pre-determined amount of time upon receipt. All assignments require independent performance. Provides customer assistance to all users, to include Host Nation Employees and Distinguished Visitors, throughout 509th area of responsibility. Oversees functionality tests of hardware and software components to identify and resolve technical issues and ensures on-site remediation of end-user problems. Provides ongoing support, resolution of problems, and recovery of information technology equipment malfunctions involving various hardware and software failures. Develops policies and procedures for desktop operations locally if/as required. Develops and provides formal and informal training to end-users to ensure end-users are able to operate information technology systems without interruption. Coordinates end-user requirements and monitors network operation and performance objectives. Establishes printer-sharing capabilities for user workstations. Works with security officers, users, computer personnel, and other support personnel to ensure security regulations are followed and that installation, command, and agency security standards are met. Monitors the ongoing operation of a complex network environment with a large number of users and ensures corrective action to restore operational service is accomplished. Reviews, evaluates, and fine-tunes components to achieve peak efficiency within the overall network connectivity. Prepares testing and implementation plans. Establishes test criteria and data for network operations to ensure all program modules and outputs for assigned projects are tested for completeness and accuracy. Serves as a member of one or more boards, committees, panels, or teams in support of special projects or programs. Analyzes information technology hardware and software reliability using utilization reports for the command's Desktop and Systems Support Division in order to identify and correct problem areas and to establish equipment performance levels. Surveys and analyzes system usage, end-user complaints, network interruptions, or other service availability issues, hardware and software capabilities, and other relevant factors. Recommends methods and procedures and coordinates corrective actions to optimize equipment and network utilization. Ensures application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of Tier II/III systems administration services as applicable to customer service. Interprets information technology policies, standards, and guidelines, and drafts local policies and procedures, as required. Performs process and procedures studies to determine management of information technology requirements. This includes determining the information interface, administrative processes involving information storage, processing, reporting and other operational functions contributing to and supporting operations throughout the command. Recommends solutions to management problems through use of new advances in information technology equipment.
NOTE: Tour of duty is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 08.00 to 17.00, including a 1-hour uncompensated lunch break.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet the qualification requirements in the Qualification Standards Handbook as summarized below.
Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
-Attention to Detail;
-Customer Service;
-Oral Communication;
-Problem Solving.
In addition to the aforementioned experience, applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the UA-01 grade level.
Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT.
