At Hostelworld (Permanent), in Multiple Locations Expires at : 2025-08-19 Remote policy : Full remote WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH The Software Engineer in Test works with a dedicated team of Software Quality Engineers to ensure high quality in the software and infrastructure of the Hostelworld platform. You will collaborate with technology groups and business owners to refine quality standards and processes for software design, development, and deployment, supporting a robust, secure, and performant platform for our business growth. Ideal candidates have at least 4 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, focusing on web, mobile web, and web application testing for high transaction customer-facing platforms. Experience on enterprise-level projects delivering fast-paced, robust solutions with a focus on continuous improvement is essential. You will perform hands-on QA work daily, contributing individually and as part of a team, supporting your colleagues to improve deliverable quality, delivery pace, and long-term technical excellence. WHAT YOU'LL DO Complete testing cycles on our main website across multiple devices and OS Understand and analyze changes to define effective test plans Utilize TestRail for all testing activities, updating assets and reporting progress against milestones and plans Define and gather metrics and KPIs for QA activities Adapt working practices based on metric analysis Support junior team members with automation skills and best practices Assist in estimating, prioritizing, planning, and coordinating QA activities within development teams Implement best practice tools and processes to maintain quality standards Develop and maintain test cases using Gherkin notation Execute test cases and regression suites in TestRail Provide production support, including patch/hot-fix testing Report bugs and track issues to resolution using Jira, creating reproducible scenarios for stakeholders Support regulatory, audit, and security QA internally and with external partners Ensure sufficient test coverage across customer-facing channels (web, mobile web, apps) and internal tools Collaborate with product management and technical leadership to create roadmaps, estimate work, and set priorities Contribute to a positive working environment aligned with company culture Keep stakeholders informed of activities affecting their goals Main requirements WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Strong knowledge of QA best practices, with ISTQB foundation qualification as a minimum 4 years testing websites and applications across different devices Experience with JIRA, TestRail, Postman, Device farms Working knowledge of writing tests in Gherkin Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Experience gathering QA metrics and adapting approaches for efficiency Team experience supporting dispersed QA engineers in cloud environments, including Google Cloud Platform Excellent people skills fostering collaboration and openness Strong organizational and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment Ability to handle stakeholder escalations and multiple priorities Clear communication skills across teams and stakeholders Knowledge of modern quality approaches like BDD is a bonus Automation experience with Playwright and/or TypeScript is advantageous Benefits & Perks Competitive salary & benefits Enhanced annual leave plus 3 Wellbeing Days per year Paid family leave (maternity, paternity, surrogacy & adoption) Agile working including a Working from Abroad Policy Support for ongoing growth & development Inclusive policies (sickness, menopause, compassionate, fertility leave) 5 paid volunteering days to give back to your community J-18808-Ljbffr
