Tory Burch is seeking a Product Development & Technical Footwear Expert with strong experience in the premium and luxury footwear industry. The role will oversee the full development process of the brand’s three annual collections dedicated to Runway and Vogue Collection, ensuring excellence in quality, technical execution, timing, and creative alignment.
This position will work closely with the Runway Design Team suppliers, and technical teams both in Italy and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
A Day in the Life:
* Drive the technical development of footwear products, applying innovative solutions and advanced construction methods from concept through prototype and final sample creation for runway show.
* Support the design team in interpreting creative direction and transforming sketches and moodboards into technically feasible and industrializable products in country.
* Ensure technical accuracy and craftmanship throughout the development cycle, overseeing material engineering, precision in patternmaking, last development, fit validation, and proto refinement to deliver flawless samples.
* Coordinate the development of the three annual footwear collections (Runway + Vogue Collection), ensuring timely fittings, revisions, and sample delivery.
* Oversee the creation of technical sheets,, material selection, components, and construction specifications.
* Guarantee high product standards through fit tests, wearability checks, and quality controls.
* Liaise daily with suppliers, factories, pattern makers, and production partners in Italy and abroad.
* Monitor costs, feasibility, timelines, and technical compliance throughout the development cycle.
* Troubleshoot technical issues related to construction, materials, lasts, soles, and engineering.
* Conduct factory visits as needed for follow-ups, corrections, and final approvals.
* Ensure smooth handover to the production team for seasonal launches.
Requirements
To Land This Role:
* Minimum 5 years of experience in footwear development, preferably in the luxury / high-fashion segment.
* Strong technical knowledge of footwear constructions (heels, outsoles, uppers, materials, lasts, components, engineering).
* Ability to translate creative ideas into technically sound and manufacturable products.
* Previous experience working on runway collections or high-level editorial projects.
* Excellent knowledge of the Italian manufacturing supply chain and key footwear districts.
* Strong supplier management and technical problem-solving skills.
* Fluency in Italian and English.
* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
