Sella Direct Ventures is the venture capital arm of Sella Group, one of the largest private and independent banking groups in Italy. We have over 5,000 employees, we are present in 7 countries, and we have 300 branches throughout Italy. Our activities include commercial and retail banking, private and wealth management, corporate & investment banking, payment systems, open banking, and information technology services.
Sella Direct Ventures operates with a single‑LP structure – with Sella Group as our sole investor – combining the discipline and deal‑making approach of an independent VC with the strategic resources, network, and domain expertise of a major financial institution.
We back early‑stage startups building the future of financial services, covering the full fintech spectrum, from embedded finance to payments and financial infrastructure. We operate as a lean, high‑conviction fund with a European focus and a global mindset. We can act as a strategic partner – not just a capital provider – for the founders we back.
We are looking for a driven and intellectually curious Analyst to join our team.
The Role
As an Analyst at Sella Direct Ventures, you will be a core part of a small, ambitious team where your work has real impact from day one. You will be involved across the full investment lifecycle – from identifying and evaluating new opportunities to supporting portfolio companies as they scale.
What You'll Do Deal Sourcing & Evaluation
* Proactively identify, map, and track high‑potential startups across our investment themes
* Build and maintain relationships with founders, co‑investors, and the broader European VC ecosystem
* Attend industry events, demos, and conferences to strengthen deal flow and market knowledge
Investment Process
* Lead and support due diligence across all dimensions: market sizing, competitive landscape, business model analysis, unit economics, and team assessment
* Build financial models to evaluate deal structures and returns
* Prepare investment memos and present recommendations to the Investment Committee
Market & Thematic Research
* Develop and maintain investment theses across key verticals and emerging trends
* Monitor regulatory developments, market dynamics, and technology shifts relevant to our focus areas
* Produce internal research reports and sector deep‑dives
Portfolio Support
* Assist portfolio companies with strategic introductions, hiring, and access to the Sella network
* Support reporting and monitoring of portfolio performance
Experience
* 1–3 years in venture capital, growth equity, investment banking, strategy consulting, or a high‑growth startup/scale‑up
* Direct exposure to financial services or fintech is a strong plus, though not a strict requirement
Skills
* Strong analytical and structured thinking – you can break down complex problems and communicate them clearly
* Financial modelling proficiency and comfort with both quantitative and qualitative analysis
* Excellent written and verbal communication in both English and Italian
* High proficiency with MS Office / Google Workspace and familiarity with AI tools
Mindset
* Genuine passion for technology, startups, and the future of financial services
* Intellectually curious – you read broadly, form opinions, and enjoy being challenged
* Proactive and autonomous – you take ownership without waiting to be told what to do
* A natural relationship‑builder who engages authentically with founders, investors, and operators
* Comfortable in a lean, fast‑moving environment where priorities shift and ambiguity is the norm
What We Offer
* A front‑row seat to the European fintech and venture ecosystem
* Exposure to the full investment cycle within an active, well‑networked team
* Direct access to and mentorship from senior leaders across Sella Group
* A genuine voice in investment decisions from early on
* The opportunity to build your network across founders, co‑investors, and operators across Europe
* A collaborative and intellectually stimulating environment
* Apprenticeship contract with structured learning and on‑the‑job development, in an innovative and inclusive culture that values ideas and continuous improvement
* Flexible home office (i.e., smart working) up to 13 days/month on average and additional paid leave to support work–life balance
* Comprehensive total rewards package including meal vouchers, performance‑related bonus, flexible welfare, supplementary pension scheme, and preferential banking & insurance conditions
* Strong focus on wellbeing, with private health and life insurance, mental and physical wellbeing services, and access to a benefits platform with discounts and offers
Sella Direct Ventures & the Sella Group are committed to building an inclusive and sustainable work environment. We believe diverse perspectives make us better investors and partners, and we actively welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
