Senior Automotive Exterior Designer - Luxury & Sports Cars - Milan
This position is part of a leading Research Center dedicated to enhancing product quality by fostering a robust design ecosystem. As a Senior Automotive Exterior Designer, you will be an active member of the automotive design team, collaborating in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment. You will work closely with experts in Product, User Experience, Brand, and Retail Design to shape the future of products and consumer experiences globally. The studio is located in Milan, Italy, one of Europe's most dynamic and international cities.
Main Responsibilities
1. Generate your own automotive exterior design projects, participating in all stages to create competitive solutions.
2. Manage small teams to ensure optimal project outcomes.
3. Enhance the existing design team by leveraging your creativity and professionalism.
4. Build strong relationships with management during presentations and reviews.
5. Apply comprehensive design knowledge from initial concepts to production-ready designs, ensuring high quality.
6. Bring creative enthusiasm and attention to detail, exploring innovative ideas.
7. Collaborate with external design resources on joint projects and partnerships.
8. Communicate and present design concepts clearly and effectively.
9. Develop a solid understanding of the Chinese automotive market.
10. Travel to China or other project locations a few times per year for presentations, benchmarking, and collaboration with HQ design team.
Required Skills
* Bachelor's degree or higher in car design.
* 8 to 10 years of experience in exterior car design within a top agency or in-house team.
* Proficiency in 2D/3D design techniques, including photo editing, modeling, and rendering.
* Advanced skills in Blender software.
* Experience with clay models, both small and full scale.
* Interest and experience with AI tools to improve design quality and efficiency.
* Demonstrated ability to handle small design teams and take on leadership roles.
* Strong conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
* Team player who can also work independently with a positive, proactive attitude.
* Fluency in written and spoken English.
* Knowledge of the Chinese car market is a plus.
* Ability to work in a multicultural and international environment.
