The Field Service Technician coordinates and attends troubleshooting and repairs of all valve-actuator-positioner products for customers in industries such as oil and gas, chemical, power, nuclear, coal, mining, and water/wastewater. The role involves coordination with the Commercial Team, manufacturing plants, Engineering/Quality departments, QRCs, and CSCs in the respective region.
Responsibilities include training field service technicians, creating a resource pool for customer support outside their region, and managing TAR tracking through FlowForce, planning, site walks, inventory assessments, and identifying issues. The technician will also participate in retrofit, changeout, upgrade, and re-instrumentation activities, either onsite or at QRCs, as needed.
The position serves both onshore and offshore customers and requires an experienced engineer or technician capable of providing expert operational support. The technician will plan repairs and installations, oversee start-up, conduct maintenance, monitor product performance, and coordinate with support teams to ensure optimal operation. This role is primarily on the road and organizationally based within the global QRC network.
Responsibilities :
* Support a positive HSE culture, minimize injuries, and maintain a safe work environment following safety regulations and customer rules. Organize equipment such as tools and PPE.
* Make in-person service calls in response to customer requests.
* Assess mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical problems, and take corrective actions.
* Oversee the repair cycle: disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and reassembly.
* Ensure successful and timely equipment installation.
* Conduct pre-start-up checks and assess start-up performance.
* Work alongside customer personnel and lead work crews as needed.
* Monitor equipment maintenance and performance.
* Train customers on operating and maintenance procedures.
* Identify and follow up on field service sales opportunities.
* Collaborate with Sales & Commercial Operations teams for coordinated customer service.
* Maintain accurate records of reports, quotes, jobs, and charges using designated systems.
* Perform inspections and testing at customer sites, workshops, or third-party repair facilities.
* Perform start-up troubleshooting onsite or remotely.
* Report on damaged equipment and perform risk assessments onsite.
* Maintain technical communication with local bases, manufacturing plants, and QRCs.
* Support the local QRC during non-peak seasons.
* Conduct root cause analysis and submit final reports prior to job completion.
* Promote ethics, safety, and quality through communication and actions.
Requirements :
* Technical High School (HTL) and/or Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar.
* 3-5 years of experience in assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of valve-actuator-positioner products.
* Proficiency in factory testing for valves, actuators, and digital troubleshooting software.
* Ability to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally.
* Strong documentation skills for service reports using AMP.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and positively interface with customers.
* Proficiency in systems such as Flowforce, AMP, Oracle, SAP, and others listed.
* Willingness to obtain necessary travel immunizations and organize travel logistics.
* Fluent in Italian and English.
