FBK is looking for a Software Developer in the field of Machine Learning and Deep Learning for the Augmented Intelligence Centre; this position is funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR)

Workplace Description
The candidate will be working in The Process and Data Intelligence (PDI) Research Unit.
PDI Research Unit is a vibrant research group in the dHWB Centre that focuses around two main research and innovation areas. The first one concerns process mining. It consists of technologies and tools to discover, analyse, predict and validate business processes and event logs, especially when they are enriched with data objects. The second is centered on knowledge discovery and information retrieval and consists of technologies and tools for supporting the discovery of knowledge from data and content, with particular emphasis on semantic based sentiment analysis and opinion mining. Background information and description of research projects
The activities related to this position will be carried out mainly within the DIPS project ( ct.it/), focusing on the deployment of innovative solutions based on artificial intelligence and deep learning, and their validation in real industrial environments. DIPS – Digitalization and Innovation of Public Services project obtained the "Seal of Excellence" from the European Commission as a project of excellence that participated in the context of the Digital Europe Program for the creation of a network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH). EDIHs aim to accelerate the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and public administration. DIPS, as a Seal of Excellence and as a beneficiary of national funding with PNRR funds, is therefore part of this network. DIPS will offer services to SMEs and PAs for their digital transformation in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity. These services, designed to support businesses at every stage of digital transformation and innovation, offer a complete approach that goes from the conception to the implementation of technological strategies, while ensuring protection and sustainability. Depending on organizational needs, the selected candidate may also be involved in additional activities or projects within the Centre.
Job Description
The successful candidate is expected to support research and development activities in the area of machine learning and predictive process monitoring, with a focus on understanding the unfolding of temporal sequences of events. In addition to working with state-of-the-art deep learning techniques for time-based predictions, the candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to research and development in the areas of generative models, prescriptive models, and explainability. The PDI ( group in which the candidate will conduct research activities is one among the most active and lively groups in the process mining field in Europe with several international collaborations and exchanges.
Job requirements
The ideal candidate must have the following requirements:
* Master degree in Computer Science;
* Experience in machine learning and deep learning;
* Ability to work in research projects;
* Knowledge of Python programming language;
* Language assessment according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): level of knowledge required. Knowledge of English will be verified during the interview on a technical or scientific topic and must be equal to or exceed level B2. Definitions of levels can be found at the following link ;
* Ability to work in a collaborative environment, with a strong commitment to achieve assigned objectives and to realize practical applications;
* Teamwork approach, good communication and relational skills;
* Aptitude for problem-solving.
Furthermore, the following elements will be positively evaluated:
* A PhD degree in discipline relevant to this position;
* Experience as a software developer;
* Experience with recursive neural networks;
* Familiarity with large language models (LLMs) and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) techniques

Contract type : CCPL Research Foundation Personnel ( ) for a fourth level technologist, the current gross annual remuneration is Euro 38.539,67
