Our client is an important Italian Group, listed on the Stock Exchange, active in the agro-industrial and agricultural sectors. As a result of a joint venture with one of the major leaders worldwide in the production and marketing of energy also from renewable sources, a new company has been established to provide technical assistance and operational support in several African countries, including Angola, Congo, Mozambique, Rwanda, Kenya, and the Ivory Coast. The new company works on projects mainly focused on oilseed crops for the production of vegetable oil for bio-refining processes.
Your new job
The professionals we are looking for will be responsible for:
* Finalizing the complete digitalization of supply chains
* Mapping farms by coordinating the activity of stakeholders
* Digitalization agricultural input data with verification of the compilation of field notebooks (planting density, tools, fertilizers, etc.)
* Creation a complete database related to all supplier farms
* Interface with suppliers and platform managers to solve problems and support daily operations
Support the agricultural manager and certification manager in spinneret activities through the following tasks:
* Risk verification of the ISCC certification for each farm through the software and dedicated layers
* Verification of documents regarding the spinneret and product traceability
* Ability to prepare periodic reports based on the progress
Commitment, dedication and willingness to work extensively outside Europe are key assets required for this role, besides working closely with the project team.
What you need to be successful
* Training in GIS & Remote Sensing, achieved through an appropriate course in the environmental, forestry, topographical, agricultural, geological or computer science background
* Minimum experience of 2 years in GIS data analysis
* Expertise in the use of GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or related software
* Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, R) for the automation of GIS processes
* Ability to work independently and in a team
* Inclination for constant learning and improvement of skills
* Previous experience in terms of sustainability certification and/or quality management systems and/or ISO standards (e.g. Ecocert, GlobalGAP, Fairtrade, etc.)
* The candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or Natural Sciences; relevant qualifications or any other relevant area. Minimum experience of 3 years in a similar role or field.
* Experience in agricultural and agroforestry development projects, analysis of existing spinneret and potential production of agricultural biomass also for industrial use
* Ability to design and manage large-scale agricultural and agroforestry interventions
* Knowledge of agricultural and agro-forestry production systems, with particular reference to third-party agriculture mechanisms and/or agro-industrial initiatives
* Knowledge of certification processes regarding production traceability, sustainability, calculation of GHG emissions
* Interpersonal skills, teamworking and management coordination
* The candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* The candidate must have a network of relevant contacts to assist them in job performance
* The candidate must have a good knowledge of Ms Word, Excel, and PowerPoin
* Fluency in English
Knowledge of French is required for the areas of Congo and Ivory Coast, Portuguese for Angola and Mozambique, and English for Rwanda and Kenya.
Workplace
Digital Experts’ activity covers the main areas of agricultural production in Angola, Congo, Mozambique, Kenya, and Ivory Coast where partners programs on bio-feedstock oil crop production are active.
Contract type
Permanent expat contract or 1-year fixed-term contract, which can be renewable for long term.
