Overview
The Physics Department of the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy, invites expressions of interest from outstanding candidates for a faculty position in Theoretical Physics, with Lattice Field Theory being one of the areas with high priority for this position.
Appointment and responsibilities
The appointment procedure will be activated at the assistant professor, tenure-track level. The successful candidate is expected to work as an independent principal investigator, promoting and leading research to complement the current expertise of the present Theory group, as well as to attract external funds.

About the group and department
The theoretical particle physics group at the University of Milano-Bicocca includes leading experts in Lattice Field theory, QCD Phenomenology and String Theory. More information can be found on the web-page https://www.fisica.unimib.it/en/research/theoretical-physics
The lattice group consists of five faculties (Mattia Bruno, Mattia Dalla Brida, Marco Ce', Leonardo Giusti and Michele Pepe) and several postdocs, PhD and master students. Current research interests of the group include QCD phenomenology, flavour physics, finite-temperature QCD, theoretical and algorithm development. The group has its own high performance PC cluster, and has regular grants of tens of Million CPU hours per year on the clusters of CINECA.
The Physics Department of Milano-Bicocca counts approximatively 70 faculty members, many postdocs and graduate students. Its particle physics groups participate to the CMS and LHCb experiments at LHC and to several neutrino experiments. The astrophysics groups participate to several high-profile research programmes in experimental cosmology, the physics of cosmic structures, and gravitational waves.
The University of Milano-Bicocca hosts a branch of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), of the National Council for Research (CNR), and has strong connections with the National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF), CERN and other international research Institutes.

*In the Italian system, a tenure-track position corresponds to a \"ricercatore in tenure track\" (RTT), i.e. an assistant professor with a 6-year contract to be confirmed (on the sole basis of their results) as a tenured associate professor starting from three years after appointment.
