Our Sr. Operations Managers are responsible for all budgetary, people development, and operations objectives. The Sr. Operations Manager oversees all aspects of operations or functions at the site, manages and leads a team of Operations and Area Managers, coaches and mentors the team to ensure performance objectives are met, builds positive employee relations, and strengthens leadership within the Fulfillment Center.
Responsibilities
* Drive the creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives, and other Lean initiatives to enable the functional area and ultimately the FC to meet and exceed the business plan.
* Ensure overall safety, quality, and performance, and provide excellent customer experience for either Inbound or Outbound operations.
* Set and clarify requirements and expectations for Operations and Area Managers; measure performance, provide feedback, and hold Ops Managers accountable for their performance and that of their departments.
* Leverage the Operations and Area Managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas, and incorporating them into improvement plans for the functional area.
* Take proactive steps to ensure that best practices are shared across all departments, shifts, and among the network.
* Work closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT, and other Sr. Operations Managers) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives in their area, as well as provide needed support for other staff initiatives.
Additional Job Elements
* Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each.
* Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
* Walk throughout the FC and around the area with great frequency; facilities are over a quarter mile in length.
* Stand and/or walk an average of 5 miles daily.
* Work in construction/distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, or not air‑conditioned.
* Access all areas of the building (ascending and descending ladders, stairs, gangways safely and without limitation).
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor’s Degree or 2+ years Amazon experience.
* 7+ years direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production, or distribution environment.
* Prior experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean techniques.
* Prior experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions, and termination.
Preferred Qualifications
* Degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field; MBA preferred.
* Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons.
* Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.
* Interest in long‑term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $200,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
