Senior Lead Engineer – Powertrain Simulation
Responsible for leading simulation-driven development of high-performance powertrain systems, with a focus on advanced internal combustion engines and next-generation propulsion technologies.
Tasks & Responsibilities
* Lead 1D thermodynamic simulation across concept definition, pre-development, and full development phases.
* Develop, correlate, and validate engine models using experimental and test bench data.
* Define and assess engine concepts, supporting their transition to design and prototype stages.
* Analyze future regulations and evaluate their impact on powertrain architecture and performance.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (combustion, CFD, mechanical design, cranktrain, testing, fuels).
* Support integrated 1D–3D simulation workflows for combustion and air path development.
* Contribute to fuel modelling and knock prediction activities.
* Support valvetrain and cam profile development.
* Apply Design of Experiments (DoE) for system optimization.
* Perform vehicle-level studies (energy balance, lap time sensitivity).
* Provide technical guidance within the team and present results to senior stakeholders.
Profile Description
* Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.
* Extensive experience in 1D thermodynamic simulation and high-performance ICE development.
* Strong knowledge of engine thermodynamics, combustion, and gas exchange.
* Experience in high-performance or motorsport engineering environments.
* Proven project leadership and cross-functional coordination skills.
* Expertise in 1D thermodynamic simulation, including model correlation and validation.
* Strong capabilities in ICE performance development and optimization.
* Experience with Design of Experiments (DoE) methodologies.
* Familiarity with integrated 1D–3D simulation approaches.
* Proficiency in engineering tools and software such as GT-Power, AVL Boost, MATLAB/Simulink.
* Experience with system modeling and collaboration tools like Cameo and Concerto.
* English language skills (from good to advanced).
