For Logista Italia, we are seeking a Contract Logistics Director. Belonging to Logista Operations in Italy, the scope includes Factory Logistics services and Pharma Operations.
The Role
Reports to Operations Director
Supervises Manufacturing Services Manager and Pharma Operations Site Manager
Workplace: Logista Italia Headquarters in Rome, Italy
Travel Availability: 20% - 40% (including abroad)
The Contract Logistics Director oversees and optimizes all aspects of our contract logistics operations. This role requires strategic thinking, exceptional leadership skills, a deep understanding of supply chain and logistics management, and the ability to drive operational excellence.
* Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to drive growth, improve efficiency, and ensure profitability of contract logistics operations.
* Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of logistics professionals to achieve operational excellence and meet client expectations.
* Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers’ peers, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded.
* Cost Management: Manage the budget effectively, control costs, and maximize profitability while maintaining high-quality service.
* Process Optimization: Collaborate with Operations, Business Transformations, and IT teams to assess and enhance logistics processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices.
* Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and industry standards, including safety and quality requirements.
* Contract Negotiation: Manage contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
* Union Relations Support: Support HR in union discussions, agreements, and provide operational information on productivity targets, volume trends, and work schedules.
* Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor KPIs to measure logistics efficiency and success.
The Requirements
* 10-15 years of experience in Operations/Logistics
* 4-5 years in roles with similar responsibilities
* Engineering or Economics degree
* Experience managing complex and distributed teams
* Strong negotiation skills
* Effective presentation and public speaking abilities
* Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint
* Proven ability to act for change and innovation
* Previous experience in a consultancy firm
* Master’s degree in Finance or Business Administration
* Lean certification or experience with Lean methodologies
