Aitown is looking for an early-career researcher to collaborate on a Horizon Europe project focused on AI-driven smart building renovation and digital tools for the built environment.
This opportunity is suitable for a recently graduated PhD, a final-stage PhD candidate, or a researcher close to graduation who wants to bridge academic research and real-world applied R&D inside an international EU Horizon project.
We are looking for someone who can learn new domains quickly, structure unclear problems, develop practical solutions, communicate with partners, and gradually take ownership of technical and research activities.
Useful background: AI/ML, data science, computer science, IoT, smart buildings, energy systems, BIM/digital twins, or related fields.
Nice to have: — Experience building web or mobile applications — Familiarity with data dashboards or visualization tools — Previous involvement in EU-funded or international research projects — Interest in energy systems, HVAC, or building performance optimization
We value researchers who can lead AI-assisted workflows in the right direction — not just generate outputs, but guide them with domain understanding, validate results critically, and adapt them to the specific technical context of the project.
We are looking for someone with a natural leadership mindset — someone who takes initiative, organises their own work, communicates clearly, and moves from idea to execution without waiting to be told what to do next.
Format, workload, compensation, and starting date are flexible.
