THE ROLE
You will be working in a multicultural and multi‑disciplinary group, where junior and senior scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.
The Nanotechnology for Neuroscience (N4N) Research line is coordinated by Giancarlo Ruocco. The research focuses on developing new technologies for facing pathologies in the field of neuroscience. Specifically the research of the N4N Research Line focuses on the technical development of new microscopy techniques, and their application for the early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases on:
* ex‑vivo test on retinas
* use and development of the Brillouin microscopy for mechanobiology
* the investigation of the role of protein aggregations in neurodegenerative and neurodevelopment diseases
* the development of human iPSC‑derived bio‑printed tissues
* the numerical/theoretical investigation of neural networks and of the protein‑protein interaction.
Within the research team, your main responsibilities will be the support to the researchers, specifically:
* Analysis of standard laboratory products and specialized instrumentation; processing of purchase requests; management of consumables and technical gas inventory; receipt and distribution of incoming goods.
* Support in the use of laboratory instrumentation.
* Inspection of the compressed air system (compressor, lines, valves, regulators, distribution) to ensure proper operation of optical tables.
* Monitoring of real‑time data files to ensure correct functioning of acquisition software.
* Reorganization of laboratory instrumentation and technical furnishings.
* Periodic verification of the proper functioning of refrigerators, freezers, and -80°C units, as well as temperature monitoring and alarm systems, and liquid nitrogen levels.
* Verification of radon gas extraction systems.
* Inspection and replacement of filters to ensure proper operation of equipment used for water purification, ice production, and autoclaving.
* Technical support for research activities.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
* High school Technical Diploma
* Good interpersonal and communications skills
* Proactive attitude and results‑oriented mindset
* Knowledge of English
