Position: Navigation System Engineer
The End-to-End Navigation System department of Thales Alenia Space in Italy seeks a Navigation System Engineer, reporting directly to the Head of Department, to:
1. Support the execution of programs such as GALILEO, Moonlight, LEO PNTIod, etc.
2. Contribute to acquiring new business opportunities
3. Foster R&D activities in satellite navigation
Location: Rome
Role Overview
As a System Engineering Role within Thales, you will:
1. Analyze and understand customer needs through studies, simulations, mock-ups, models, prototypes, etc.
2. Formalize specifications and architecture to propose optimal solutions
3. Prepare and execute integration, verification, and validation tests
4. Define test plans and procedures for system-level testing
5. Ensure technical integration and coherence of system design, interfaces, and performance
6. Design the architecture of the command and control system
7. Demonstrate solutions to customers
Additionally, you will:
1. Contribute to the growth of the engineering department (e.g., new contracts, strategic evolution)
2. Support R&D activities through new studies
3. Engage with universities through thesis, internships, etc.
4. Participate in international meetings and conferences worldwide
Requirements
* Fluent English (spoken and written)
* Master’s degree in electronic, telecommunications, computer science, aerospace engineering, or equivalent
* Knowledge of basic telecommunication principles
* Familiarity with System Engineering Tools (e.g., MBSE, Requirement Management, Simulation, Matlab)
* At least 5 years of experience with Satellite Navigation and/or Communication Systems
* Experience leading engineering projects or activities
* Adaptability to change
* Strong team working, problem-solving, proactivity, and innovative attitude
