As a Product Design Engineer for the Smart Eyewear project, you will participate in the project from the very beginning, actively engaging in the Product Design phase where a solid, proactive, and creative problem-solving approach is required, and you will support Product Development up until the launch to Mass Production.
You will be responsible for the 3D model design on CAD and modeling of complex smart eyewear systems in which aesthetics plays a key role.
To be successful, you should also achieve a holistic understanding of the product and its functionalities.
You will work closely with Product Design Engineers, Industrial Designers, User Experience team, Quality, and Manufacturing.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and act as reference for the development of complex mechanical solutions as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Ideate, design, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems
Push state-of-the-art technologies and approaches to solve complex mechanical problems
Work across the full product development cycle, especially from idea, to concept definition and to product finalization
Collaborate closely with industrial designers, UX team and quality
Travel to and support engineering builds and vendor visits
QualificationsEducational background in Mechanical Engineering/Industrial Design
Knowledge and experience of parametric 3D CAD software, preferably Creo
Knowledge and experience with Product Data Management, preferably Windchill
Knowledge on design and process of injection molding
3+ years of industry experience in mechanical design or mold design
Experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, geometric tolerancing, and 3D/2D CAD
Knowledge of design and simulation tools, prototyping tools, manufacturing technologies and materials
Working knowledge of material properties (plastics, metal, adhesive, glass, etc.)
Experience building relationships and collaborating with cross-functional teams
Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams
High level of organizational skills
Scientific approach and strong problem-solving skills
Ability to operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Previous experience in Consumer Electronics Product Development is greatly appreciated
Experience with Office 365
