Role Overview
As a Mobile Development Engineer on the Amazon Health Services team, you will develop and maintain mobile applications that enable customers to access healthcare services, manage prescriptions, share health data, and interact with medical providers. You will work with Protected Health Information (PHI) and ensure compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.

- Security: HIPAA compliance, PHI data handling, encryption
- Tools: Xcode, Android Studio, Git, CI/CD pipelines
Key Job Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain mobile applications for Amazon Pharmacy, One Medical, and related health services
- Implement secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA
- Integrate with Apple HealthKit and other device health data platforms
- Build reusable UI components and ensure excellent user experience
- Collaborate with backend teams to design and integrate APIs
- Implement robust error handling and offline capabilities
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers
- Ensure applications meet performance, scalability, and security requirements
- Work with Product and Design teams to scope and deliver features
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of Android/iOS Mobile Development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Experience with mobile UI/UX implementation and platform-specific technologies
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with healthcare applications and PHI/PII data handling
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance requirements and healthcare data security
- Experience with Apple HealthKit, Google Fit, or similar health data platforms
- Published Android or iOS applications to app stores
- Experience with cross-platform frameworks (React Native, Flutter)
- Strong understanding of mobile security best practices
- Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, QA, and Backend Engineering
