We are now looking for a
Trainee, System Simulation
to join our team working for a better future.
The position is temporaryand the preferred location is Trieste, Italy.
What you will be doing
In this position, you will follow a structured induction program, receive coaching, and attend a selected training path aimed at increasing simulations, data analysis and marine engineering knowledge. The trainee will be engaged in System Simulation and Integrated Systems & Solutions development projects with a gradual increase in complexity, always being supported and supervised.
As Trainee, System Simulation, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
1. Support in the development of Integrated Marine system simulation software and tools
2. Develop and manage flexible simulation models that can support iterative development of alternative marine system concepts to enhance customer value
3. Development of data driven design methodology within Wärtsilä
4. Support sales and capture teams in concept evaluation of alternative machinery concepts with strong focus on customer value
5. Support strategic planning and competence development of sustainable world class marine system simulation capabilities within Integrated Systems and Solutions
6. Contribute to development studies on innovative marine propulsion technologies
7. Create and present solid Value Propositions for the assigned Sales opportunities, tuned to the specific customer's values and requirements.
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
8. Basic knowledge in static and dynamic simulation of Marine systems
9. Basic knowledge in Python and data analysis
10. Knowledge of SQL databases is a plus
11. Knowledge of modern software development techniques (e.g., Git) is a plus
12. Strong collaboration skills, customer service mindset and team player with a willingness to work across organizational boundaries
13. Basic financial understanding & commercial orientation
14. Out of the box thinking and innovative mindset
15. Fluent written and spoken English (B2-C1)
16. Academic background related to industrial engineering (e.g. mechanical, naval, electrical), information technology or industrial management, other profiles with an analytical and informatic attitude will be evaluated positively.
