Do Work That Matters – Your Role and Responsibilities

KPMG Business Services provides internal services to the organization, supporting all service lines and assisting professionals in the management of their day‑to‑day activities.
In particular, by joining the Information Technology Services Team within our internal IT department in Milan, you will be responsible for delivering the highest standards of hands‑on assistance and support to Leadership and members of the Management Group.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Designing cloud‑native architectures on Azure and AI solutions (including generative use cases and RAG) that are scalable, secure, and sustainable, in line with corporate best practices and internal/external client requirements.
Designing end‑to‑end architectures (HLD/LLD), defining technical and functional specifications, and non‑functional requirements (scalability, security, availability, performance, cost).
Leading the definition of Azure landing zones, secure networking (hub/spoke, Private Link), identity and access management, and on‑prem/hybrid integration.
Evaluating and introducing Cloud & AI technologies (Azure OpenAI, Azure ML, Azure AI Search, Model Catalog), including trade‑off, cost, and risk analysis.
Designing and implementing AI/GenAI patterns (RAG, responsible fine‑tuning, prompt engineering, guardrails, cost and latency containment).
Setting up DevOps/MLOps/LLMOps practices: IaC (Terraform/Bicep), CI/CD, policy as code, model/LLM monitoring, logging, and observability (Azure Monitor, Application Insights).
Running PoCs and architectural assessments, guiding decision‑making (ADR), and defining roadmaps and migration/modernization plans.
Collaborating with cross‑functional teams (security, data, development, operations) and clearly communicating with both technical and business stakeholders.
Documenting and presenting solutions (C4 diagrams, runbooks, operational guides); supporting handover to operations and post‑go‑live activities.
Adopting Well‑Architected Framework / CAF, FinOps practices, and standardized blueprints and reference architectures.
Come As You Are – Your Skills and Profile
This opportunity is a great fit if you:
Hold a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent field.
Have 5+ years of overall experience in IT, including 2–3 years in Azure and AI solution architecture.
Have an excellent command of English.
Preferred certifications: Azure AZ‑305 (Architect), AZ‑104, AZ‑400 (DevOps), AI‑102 (AI Engineer), DP‑100/DP‑203 (Data/ML), FinOps Certified Practitioner.
Hard Skills (Must Have)
DevOps: Git, CI/CD (Bitbucket Pipelines / GitHub Actions), IaC (Terraform or Bicep), containers (Docker), Kubernetes (AKS), policy as code, secrets management.
Observability and reliability: Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, OpenTelemetry; design for resilience, backup/DR, RTO/RPO.
Cost management: cost estimation and optimization (FinOps), capacity planning.
Hard Skills (Nice to Have)
Data & Analytics: Databricks, Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Delta Lake; data governance with Purview.
Vector DB and RAG: Azure AI Search, pgvector, Cosmos DB with vector indexing, Redis.
Programming languages: C#, Python, and SQL (preferred); R is a plus.
