Internship Responsibilities and Opportunities
* Training on Vicente Scaramuzza piano technique through weekly sessions with Mtro. Juan Rezzuto. Experience with Scaramuzza Technique is advantageous.
* Training on British Piano Pedagogy and official syllabuses, provided by WKMT staff in weekly one-hour group meetings.
* One-to-one piano lessons with Juan Rezzuto available upon request and mutual agreement.
* The intern delivers up to 39 hours of tuition to students of all ages and levels at WKMT Kensington, WKMT Camberwell, and/or students’ homes, as directed by WKMT staff.
* Typically, each teacher teaches around 30-33 hours weekly, though this varies throughout the year.
* WKMT may offer accommodation options for interns living near studios, at £550/month, all bills included, with a digital or acoustic piano.
* Teaching one-to-one piano and keyboard lessons as per student needs and study plans.
* Preparing students for performances, exams, auditions, festivals, and gigs; maintaining records of student progress via our IT system.
* Participating in non-tutorial activities like performances and recordings.
* Performing basic office tasks.
* Developing student retention through effective teaching methods, including good communication, structure, and motivation.
* Supporting students in using internet resources.
* Hosting students with high hospitality standards, offering drinks and maintaining courtesy and presentation standards.
* Collaborating on WKMT’s SEO efforts, including backlinking, article and video production, keyword research, competitor analysis, citation audits, and other promotional activities.
Role Requirements
* Experience in teaching is preferred, but training is provided, and attendance at training sessions is granted after successful probation.
* Compliance with health and safety standards and child protection legislation.
* Proven record of artistic excellence or decency, such as recordings, concert programs, or press articles.
Additional Notes
* Holidays should be taken during specified periods: 25th July to 1st September, and 18th December to 5th January. Some holidays may be exchanged for concert preparation days.
* One day off per week, to be agreed with the studio, excluding weekends.
* Teaching hours are unevenly distributed; efforts are made to cluster hours but may vary, with practice time available during spare hours.
* Schedule changes may occur until the day before; students may book lessons spontaneously.
* If a teacher is unable to teach, colleagues will cover hours as coordinated by the staff manager.
* Professional presentation and attire are expected from all teachers.
