Through the UNHCR Internship Program, qualified students and recent graduates can obtain practical experience in the humanitarian sector in a global setting, which can be useful for their academic program or future employment in an area connected to UNHCR's mission. Depending on the demand and ability of offices to accept, manage, and assign interns to worthwhile projects, internships are offered at different locations. An internship typically lasts eight to twelve months and can start at any time of the year.

BenefitsThe interns will benefit from the following items:

Allowance for Food, Transportation, and Living Expenses:
\n
- Full-time internships receive 50% of the monthly net salary (GS level 3 step 1) for \"H\" duty stations and 70% at other duty stations.
- Tempo parziale internships receive 50% of the full-time allowance rate.
- Remote internships are also compensated.
Travel Cost Reimbursement:\n
- Interns located outside the duty station country are reimbursed for return travel costs via the most economical route unless their sponsor has already provided this.
- Interns must arrange and cover visa costs, though UNHCR can assist with necessary documentation.
Medical Insurance Requirement:\n
- Interns are responsible for securing and providing proof of valid medical insurance covering the contract period, including coverage for emergency medical evacuation if needed.

Eligibility CriteriaTo be eligible for an internship, applicants need to:

- Be a recent graduate or enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a university or other higher education institution that has received UNESCO Link external accreditation;
- Have finished at least two years of undergraduate study in a subject related to or interesting to the organization's work and
- At the time of application, applicants must not have any immediate family members (father, mother, brother, or sister) employed by UNHCR as affiliates or staff members on any kind of contract.
- Proof of English Level B2 skills proficiency.
Note: Candidates who finished their studies within two years of applying for a UNHCR internship are regarded as recent graduates.\n
