Location
The role can be based in Pisa, Calenzano or Calderara sul Reno.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor the main systems, identifying and resolving issues.
* Collaborate with the European controls network to monitor machinery metrics for material handling.
* Provide stakeholders with visual representations of problem‑resolution data.
* Oversee or actively participate in continuous improvement projects run by the European control network.
* Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure systems are documented and backup archives are maintained.
* Collaborate with colleagues worldwide to install and commission new equipment.
* Provide assistance to other teams within the European control network as needed.
* Interpret mechanical drawings and electrical systems, defining improvement strategies to ensure compliance with IEC 61131‑3.
Day in the Life
You will be the reference person in your site for the proper operation of automated systems—from conveyor belts to sorting systems—to ensure maximum efficiency. When errors occur or improvements are required, you will initiate solutions, leveraging your experience. You will also keep your team of Technical Engineers updated with training on troubleshooting and preventive maintenance controls.
Basic Qualifications
* High‑school diploma.
* Extensive experience with automation via PLC‑based control systems and troubleshooting in continuous process and production environments.
* Experience with various conveyor belts and sorting systems.
* Experience with material handling, flow visualization, and monitoring.
* Experience with at least one of the following tools:
- Microsoft Office, project‑management tools, EPLAN.
- Ladder logic and programming of Siemens, Allen‑Brady or Codesys PLCs.
- Ignition SCADA or similar platform and HMI.
- EthernetIP, Profinet, Profibus, AS‑i or other field‑bus networks.
- VFD, safety gateways and I/O devices.
* Advanced knowledge of English and Italian, written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
* University degree in computer science, electrical engineering, industrial electronics or a related technical field.
* Experience with ISO 13849 and ISO 62061 standards.
* Experience in multi‑site distributed environments.
* Project‑management experience with agile and waterfall methodologies.
* Experience with Six Sigma, data analysis and process improvement techniques.
