What you'll do Build and lead a globally distributed team of engineers Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career development Work with Product Management to define vision and strategy for Ubuntu and your team Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders Advocate for modern, agile software development practices Develop and promote excellent engineering and organizational practices Foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values Participate in leadership team collaborations Engage in engineering processes through code and architectural reviews Collaborate with teams at Canonical, the open source community, and partners Oversee quality of the Ubuntu Server image family Plan and deliver Ubuntu Server features Work from home with global travel up to 6 weeks/year for events Who you are You love developing and growing people, with a strong track record You are passionate about software development You have 3 years leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers; distributed team experience is a plus You focus on success and delivering high-quality software on time You have experience in agile development environments You hold a Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or similar You have strong technical communication skills in English You have experience with modern GNU/Linux distributions, preferably Debian or Ubuntu You have practical experience with at least one cloud platform: Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS J-18808-Ljbffr
