We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.Amazon Web Services is seeking a mechanical engineer to be part of a global engineering team responsible for ownership and continuous improvement of data center liquid cooling infrastructure products. Experience leading cooling product design, understanding cooling principles, and manufacturing quality practices is essential. You should comprehend detailed equipment specifications, piping systems, pumping systems, and air handler systems, and evaluate design change implications.As a Global Amazon Product Lifecycle Engineer, you’ll support AWS data centers’ liquid cooling infrastructure. You’ll work with product development teams to understand products during development and testing, maintaining engineering ownership throughout operational life, and serve as the global engineering resource for liquid cooling infrastructure. Intermittent travel of about 30% is expected, including domestic and international trips.Key Responsibilities
Possess strong engineering judgment and provide recommendations despite uncertainty.Be detail- and data-oriented.Engineer air handling, piping, and/or pumping products.Review, update, and approve equipment submittals.Collaborate with global liquid cooling equipment suppliers and manufacturers.Build trust and relationships with stakeholders (reliability, operations, design, compliance).Manage concurrent projects across multiple geographic zones.Explain complex systems in clear and concise language.Support operations with failure mode and root cause analysis, maintenance, troubleshooting, and procedure review for mechanical and electrical issues.Listen to the voice of the customer to identify improvements that enhance product reliability or availability.Design product improvements with global suppliers, oversee root cause analysis.Contribute to the global body of knowledge and drive continuous improvement at a global scale.
Basic Qualifications
6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including data centers, power generation, or oil & gas facilities.Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineering or Architectural License.Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
