Working Hours: 09:00–12:45, 14:00–18:00
Compensation: 30,000-40,000€
Role Description
We are seeking an Analytical Chemist to join our R&D team and contribute to the development of next-generation redox flow battery technology. The successful candidate will play a key role in the formulation, characterization, and optimization of electrolyte solutions, supporting both fundamental research and product development activities.
This position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of electrochemistry, analytical chemistry, and energy storage, contributing directly to the advancement of innovative long-duration energy storage systems. The Analytical Chemist will collaborate closely with scientists and engineers across multiple disciplines, generating critical insights into electrolyte behavior, stability, performance, and degradation mechanisms.
Responsibilities
* Design, prepare, and optimize electrolyte formulations for redox flow battery applications
* Perform chemical and physicochemical characterization of electrolyte solutions using analytical techniques and laboratory instrumentation
* Investigate electrolyte stability, degradation pathways, and performance under various operating conditions
* Develop, validate and execute experimental protocols to evaluate electrolyte properties, including composition, viscosity, conductivity, density, and chemical speciation
* Analyze experimental data and generate technical reports to support R&D decision-making
* Collaborate with electrochemists and engineers to correlate electrolyte properties with battery performance and system operation
* Support scale-up activities by evaluating electrolyte behavior from laboratory to pilot-scale systems
* Contribute to the development and validation of analytical methods for quality control and material characterization
* Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure compliance with safety procedures and best laboratory practices
* Stay informed on scientific literature, emerging technologies, and industry developments related to electrolyte chemistry and energy storage systems
Qualifications
* MSc or PhD in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field
* Strong knowledge of analytical chemistry principles and laboratory techniques
* Experience with analytical instrumentation such as UV-Vis spectroscopy, HPLC, ICP-OES/MS, GC-MS, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, titration methods, or related techniques
* Hands-on experience in solution chemistry, electrolyte development, chemometrics or electrochemical systems is highly desirable
* Strong experimental skills, with the ability to design, execute, and interpret laboratory investigations independently
* Excellent data analysis and problem-solving capabilities
* Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary R&D environment
* Proactive mindset, curiosity, and willingness to explore novel approaches to complex technical challenges
* Excellent written and spoken English
