We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical engineering aspects of a solar PV farm with co-located battery storage .
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the technical integrity, compliance, and quality of electrical systems throughout the design, procurement, and construction phases.
This role will be key to the successful delivery of a grid-connected renewable energy project aligned with Italy’s energy transition goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the design and integration of solar PV systems with BESS (including MV/HV systems, inverters, transformers, and switchgear)
Manage the grid connection process with local utilities and regulatory bodies
Review and approve electrical engineering designs from EPC contractors and external consultants
Define technical specifications for major equipment (e.g., inverters, battery containers, PCS, transformers)
Support equipment procurement by evaluating vendor technical compliance
Conduct site inspections during construction and commissioning phases to ensure electrical works meet design and regulatory standards
Coordinate closely with internal project managers, civil/structural engineers, and construction teams
Support HSE and quality assurance through technical input and risk assessments
Act as a technical point of contact for resolving electrical and grid-related issues during execution
Requirements:
~ Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
~7+ years’ experience in electrical engineering, with at least 3 years in solar PV and energy storage (BESS) projects
~ Strong knowledge of MV and HV electrical systems, grid integration, and protection schemes
~ Experience in battery energy storage systems, including PCS and EMS architecture, is essential
~ Familiarity with design tools and standards: AutoCAD, ETAP, DIgSILENT, PVSyst, IEC, CEI, and grid codes
~ Knowledge of Italian grid regulations is desirable
~ Able to travel to project sites across Italy as required
