Job Description

School Bus Driver – Alexandria International School

The School Bus Driver ensures the safe, punctual, and responsible transport of students to and from school, field trips, and other school-related activities. The role requires a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and respectful interaction with students and families.

Key Responsibilities


* Provide safe and timely transportation for students, following scheduled routes and school timetables.
* Ensure full compliance with road safety laws, transportation regulations, and school policies.
* Supervise student behavior on the bus, ensuring a calm and respectful environment during travel.
* Perform routine inspections of the vehicle before and after trips to ensure safety and proper functioning.
* Maintain cleanliness, order, and basic upkeep of the bus.
* Report any mechanical issues, delays, or incidents promptly to the school office.
* Assist younger students with boarding and exiting the bus when needed.
* Support school events requiring transport (e.g., educational visits, sports events).
* Maintain accurate logs and adhere to any reporting or record-keeping procedures required by the school or authorities.

Required Skills And Competencies

* Strong driving and safety awareness skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Reliability, punctuality, and a calm demeanor.
* Ability to manage and interact positively with children of various ages.
* Good knowledge of road conditions and safety protocols.

Requirements

* High school diploma or equivalent.
* At least 3 years of documented experience as a professional bus driver.
* Valid Category D driving license (required for operating buses) and Category B license (standard vehicles).
* Clean driving record and no history of serious traffic violations.
* Ability to pass background checks, including criminal records and health assessments.
