About the Role
Abbott is looking for a talented and experienced Senior UX / Product Designer to join our Diagnostics Division and play a critical role in the design of compelling informatics products.
In this role, you will lead the design of multi‑channel, interactive digital experiences, guiding products from early concept through launch and supporting them throughout their lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to create intuitive, high‑impact user experiences that delight our customers and meet the highest quality and regulatory standards.
What You’ll Do
Lead end‑to‑end UX design activities for informatics products, from concept to launch and post‑market supportDesign intuitive and engaging user experiences across desktop, web, and mobile platformsTranslate both spoken and unspoken customer needs into meaningful, differentiated product experiencesCreate and maintain UX artifacts such as personas, user journeys, workflows, wireframes, prototypes, interaction models, and functional specificationsDrive and conduct user research and usability testing, iterating designs based on insights and findingsContribute to and continuously improve UX architecture, processes, tools, and templatesPromote reuse, consistency, and scalability of UX assets across multiple projects and teamsIdentify best‑in‑class design patterns, components, and frameworks to ensure usability and visual excellenceEnsure all design work complies with the ADD Informatics Quality System and applicable US and international regulatory standardsAssess UX‑related technical risks and support mitigation strategiesCommunicate design concepts, research findings, and rationale clearly and effectively to stakeholdersCollaborate closely with product managers, R&D leadership, engineers, and external partnersParticipate in Human Factors Engineering (HFE) activities to improve usability, safety, and ergonomicsPlan, execute, and track design projects, including scope, timelines, and risksTravel occasionally based on project needsWhat You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Human Factors, Cognitive Science, HCI, Information Architecture, or a related fieldA Master’s or PhD in a related discipline is a plusAt least 5 years of experience designing and launching software or informatics products in environments such as healthcare, logistics, defense, or similar industriesProven experience working in Scrum or Agile development teamsStrong knowledge of user‑centered design principles and methodologiesHands‑on experience with design and prototyping tools such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, InVision, Axure, SolidWorks, Dreamweaver CC, PhoneGap Build, or similarSolid understanding of presentation and front‑end technologies, including HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, XAML, and native platforms, with awareness of accessibility standardsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong analytical thinking, creativity, and problem‑solving abilitiesWork Location
This is a hybrid role based in Milan, requiring 4 days per week on site to support close collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
