Ph3About the client and location /h3 pWe are looking for an Thermal Infrared Instrument Engineer to work at ESRIN's premises in Frascati, Italy. /p pThe ESA Centre for Earth Observation (ESRIN) is the European Space Agency's (ESA) base in Frascati, Italy. From this location ESA conducts most of their earth observation research, including data analysis and distribution for other non-ESA satellites. /p pThis position is open to protected categories under Italian Law 68 / 99 ("Rules for the right to work of disabled people"). /p h3Tasks and activities /h3 pSupporting communication between developers, Mission project, data quality manager, PDGS manager and the DISC (using cloud based collaborative Algorithm and Analysis Platform). /p pReviewing Hyperspectral L1 and Level-2 Processors. /p pReviewing DISC related to SAR Level-1, Level-2 and Level-3 processors. /p pPlanning and preparing documentation related to data quality activities (including processor maintenance and evolution as well as product monitoring). /p pDefining the cross-verification tests and relevant result analysis for the Operational / Prototype processor(s) for Hyperspectral Level-1 and Level 2 and / or SAR Level-1, Level-2 and Level 3, related to Cal / Val and data quality tool. /p pSupporting the management and the execution of the PDGS integration, testing and Ground Segment Validation activities. /p pReviewing technical, scientific and managerial documentation from various sources : ESA, Industry / Developers, Mission Experts, DISC, Post Launch Support etc. /p pParticipating in Ground Segment Reviews, PDGS reviews and DISC reviews organized either by ESA or by Industry and management. /p h3Skills and experience /h3 pbThe following skills and experience are mandatory : /b /p pMaster's Degree or equivalent, preferably in Space Engineering, Remote Sensing or Earth Observation /p pDemonstrated experience on Thermal Infrared Instrument. /p pExperience in the development and or review of ATBD. /p pAutonomous in writing technical notes, specifications and reports. /p pExperience in instrument and data monitoring. /p pSolid background in data quality control. /p pBackground in operational processors development. /p pbExperience in calibration activities. /b /p pDesire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment. /p pSolution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill. /p pFluent in English, both written and spoken. /p pThe following skills and experience would be highly desirable : /p pGood knowledge of the ESA Earth Explorers missions (and instruments), and processes related to their PDGS development. /p pGood understanding and background of Earth Observation applications. /p pProgramming skills to develop tools for the accomplishment of the engineering, testing and validation activities. /p pSound knowledge of containerization technologies and virtual environment. /p pKnowledge of the ECSS standards and documentation and configuration control management techniques. /p pExpertise in Thermal Infrared instruments. /p pExpertise in SAR instrument or Hyperspectral instruments. /p h3Why should you apply? /h3 pYou will have the opportunity to work within leading space organisations across Europe. /p pWe encourage everyone to think outside the box and to push the boundaries of traditional knowledge.
