Vishay Italy is currently seeking applicants for R&D; Senior Engineer – Power Package Design.
To join our Team, that is involved to lead the design and development of advanced packaging solutions for power semiconductors, including both discrete devices and power modules.
You will be responsible for the complete packaging design process from concept to industrial maturity, including supplier interface, tooling design, and system-level thermal integration.
Job Location
Vishay Semiconductor Italiana spa is site focused on the design, development and production of power diodes and power modules.
There are around 300 employees currently working in North Italy.
This number is constantly increasing due to our expansion plans, including CATANIA.
What you will be doing
Design and develop power semiconductor packaging solutions (discrete and module).
Select and evaluate materials including ceramic substrates, molding compounds, leadframes, solder and sintering pastes.
Integrate packaging solutions with thermal management systems (air and liquid cooling).
Design and engineer manufacturing tools for packaging processes (molds, dies, clips, etc.).
Perform tolerance and statistical stack-up analysis to ensure mechanical integrity.
Ensure DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and cost-optimized designs aligned with supplier capabilities.
Lead the design and development project, coordinating with cross-functional teams.
Own the full industrialization process from prototype creation to volume manufacturing.
Use thermal-fluid dynamics knowledge to design and optimize advanced cooling systems.
Apply project management skills to plan, track, and deliver packaging development milestones.
What you will bring along
At least 10 years of experience in power semiconductor packaging design (discretes and modules).
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Strong expertise in materials used in power packages: ceramics, leadframes, molding, solder/sinter pastes.
Experience with packaging integration into cooling systems (air and liquid).
Proficiency in designing and engineering packaging tools and fixtures.
Advanced knowledge of statistical tolerance analysis and mechanical reliability.
Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, suppliers, and cost optimization strategies.
Hands-on experience in full product industrialization lifecycle from prototype to mass production.
Knowledge of fluid dynamics and advanced cooling system design.
Project management capabilities and cross-functional coordination experience.
Familiarity with semiconductor industry standards and reliability testing methods.
Ability to interface with simulation engineers for co-design activities.
Experience automotive or high-reliability industrial environments.
