We are currently seeking a General Maintenance Tech III to work at our Liverpool, NY office supporting the Eastern New York Region. The position covers three offices: Liverpool, Watertown, and New Hartford, NY, with monthly trips to the latter two. Work schedule: core hours M-F, 8 am to 5 pm (some flexibility); the technician will be on‐call 7 days per week and typically required to report for calls once or twice per month.
Responsibilities
Under limited supervision, the General Maintenance Tech III will perform repairs and maintenance across the three facilities. The technician typically works in carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, and electrical trades, performing inspections to identify necessary repair work and using hand and power tools to troubleshoot and repair machines and equipment.
Maintain and repair organization's facilities and properties, including routine tasks and responsibilities. Correct minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural problems; paint structures and equipment as needed. Document installation and repairs as required by regulatory agencies.
Repair appliances and equipment. Troubleshoot boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps, and related mechanical equipment; otherwise call in vendors for advanced work. Estimate time and material costs of various projects and requisition new supplies and equipment.
Review maintenance records to identify recurring deficiencies and plan and implement corrective maintenance or repairs.
May troubleshoot and repair all building HVAC related equipment; call in vendors for advanced repair work.
Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Drive the company vehicle to other locations.
Qualifications
Education: High School or equivalent required.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience. Required skill and knowledge of painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. HVAC certification is not required.
Skills & Abilities: Previous truck and/or bus driving experience is desirable. Must have basic writing and communication skills, basic computer skills, and be self‐starter with good interpersonal and customer service skills.
Travel: Drive a company vehicle to other locations. A current, valid driver's license and a good driving record are required.
Compensation
Salary range: up to $24–25 per hour (plus on‐call pay: $20 per weekday and $25 on weekends and holidays). Eligible for overtime.
This role is not eligible for relocation assistance.
Physical Requirements
The role requires regular use of hands, fingers, the body to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Must lift and move objects 10–50 lbs. frequently; lift and move objects over 100 lbs. with assistance or use of a powered industrial truck. Frequently push carts up to 250 lbs on flat flooring or ramps. Frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally sit, climb, or balance. Must move/lift up to 50 lbs unassisted. Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools and work with a variety of chemicals and solvents. May require ladder climbing for top‐level selection.
