Job title Director of Technology, Knoll Europe General purpose Develops local IT strategy and processes for Knoll Europe, including development and support for Enterprise Applications and local infrastructure. Ensures that strategy aligns with global MillerKnoll IT strategy. Maximizes the use of technology by partnering with business leaders to understand their needs. Manages local teams and partners with global technical teams to ensure we deliver reliable, secure and efficient technology to both our internal and external customers. Essential functions - Work with the key stakeholders to define and to implement an IT strategy for Knoll Europe. - Recommend the selection or development of technology and infrastructure to deliver the agreed IT strategy, and the required business outcomes. - Lead the Knoll Europe ERP implementation and other critical technology related business initiatives to support the business growth. - Collaborate with global technical team to implement the system and infrastructure integration initiated and driven by global technical team. - Ensure Knoll Europe’s business continuity plans are maintained and tested, and that all legal and SOX requirements of the corporation are met. - Manages the routine IT operations activities (e.g. backup, patches, end-point management, help desk, etc.) - Manage the annual budget (operating and capital expenditure) to ensure it is consistent with overall IT and company objectives. - Oversee the talent-management strategy, including hiring, coaching and developing, for current and future technology teams. - Communicate business strategy, corporate values, and financial results to team members. Required skills and abilities - Experience with mentoring and developing staff. Ability to build teams, balance team and individual responsibilities, and achieve goals through others not directly under your supervision. - Experience with managing IT systems processes and vendors. - Experience with managing business stakeholder. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain digital concepts to business leaders and business concepts to technologists, and to sell ideas and processes internally at all levels, including the global technology leadership team and the local business leadership team. - Deep knowledge of manufacturing business processes and the ability to lead an end-to-end ERP implementation in a complicated manufacturing organization. - Ability to control costs against set budgets and take corrective action when necessary. - Ability to review business performance against set indicators to determine the quality of customer service being provided and take corrective action where necessary. - Maintain close contact with key business partners to gauge perceived service levels and provide senior support where issues have not been resolved by others. - Open to ideas and able to evaluate options and solutions; can manage risk and is not afraid to make (or encourage others to make) reasoned decisions. - Ability to effectively guide and sustain change in a dynamic and complex operating environment. - Foster excellent working relationships with colleagues, customers, suppliers and our trade union. Education and experience - Bachelor degree in a technology or related field. MBA preferred. - At least 7 years’ experience of Information Technology management in an international business environment. Ideally 3 years’ experience in managing an entire IT department in a manufacturing process environment and experience in the negotiation and management of contracts with third party suppliers for the supply of software and support. - At least 10 years’ substantial experience in the implementation of integrated ERP solution. - At least 5 years’ experience with formal project management methodologies. - At least 5 years’ experience of working in a global environment with associates across multiple time zones. Resource management - Manage an annual CapEx ($0.5M~1M) and OpEx ($1.5M~2M). - Manage a team size of 8 to 12 employees or contractors.
