This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Principal Data Scientist in Italy.
Responsibilities
* Translate complex data science insights into clear, actionable narratives that support strategic decision-making at the executive level.
* Serve as the leading statistical authority, ensuring analytical rigor in high-stakes business decisions.
* Conduct deep strategic analyses across key business areas such as revenue performance, platform health, operational efficiency, and competitive positioning.
* Raise the communication and analytical standards across the data science organization by mentoring teams and guiding executive-facing deliverables.
* Collaborate with senior leaders in engineering, product, and operations to embed a strong data-driven culture across the organization.
* Define and advance company-wide scientific methodologies, including experimentation frameworks, forecasting systems, and causal inference approaches.
* Represent the organization externally through industry conferences, publications, and engagement with the broader data science and statistics community.
Requirements
* 15+ years of experience in data science, statistics, or quantitative research across industry or academia.
* Proven experience presenting complex statistical insights to executive leadership, including C-suite or board-level audiences.
* Deep expertise in core data science disciplines such as experimentation, causal inference, forecasting, optimization, and machine learning.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain advanced concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
* Demonstrated ability to elevate analytical standards, mentor senior data scientists, and improve team-wide output quality.
* Experience working with large-scale technology or data platforms in data-driven organizations.
* PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field.
* Academic research or teaching experience in statistics or a related discipline is a plus.
* Published research, thought leadership, or recognized contributions to applied statistics is highly valued.
* Experience establishing or contributing to a Chief Statistician or similar analytical leadership function is beneficial.
