Descrizione

The project:

Terra Innovatum's mission is to make nuclear power accessible. We deliver simple and safe micro-reactor solutions that are scalable, affordable and deployable anywhere 1 Mwe at a time.

You will be joining a fast-growing scaleup developing SOLO – a micro modular reactor – able to provide clean energy and radioisotopes where it is needed. You will be supporting the reactor licensing process in the US at first.

You will support the founding team to scaleup to a leading tech company supplying much needed energy solutions globally.

This is a unique opportunity to join a high performance team developing a global energy solutions leader.

What you will be working on

Terra Innovatum Fluid Systems Engineer will be:

* responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of fluid-based systems in nuclear power plants, research reactors, and other nuclear facilities
* ensuring the safe and efficient operation of cooling, steam, and hydraulic systems while maintaining strict compliance with nuclear safety and regulatory standards
* working closely with reactor engineers, regulatory agencies, and maintenance teams to develop and improve system performance, reliability, and safety

Potential next steps

As the company is growing fast and plans international expansion in 2026, the right candidate will be considered for regional and/or global responsibility.

What you will be in charge off:

* Designing, analyzing, and optimizing nuclear fluid systems, including reactor coolant, steam generation, condensate, and hydraulic systems.
* Conducting thermal-hydraulic modeling, flow analysis, and pressure drop calculations to ensure system efficiency and safety.
* Developing and maintaining system documentation, including flow diagrams, P&IDs, operating procedures, and safety reports
* Performing system reliability assessments, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for fluid system failures.
* Ensuring compliance with NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) regulations, ASME codes, and other industry standards.
* Collaborating with reactor engineers, safety specialists, and regulatory bodies to enhance fluid system performance.
* Supporting the testing, commissioning, and maintenance of fluid systems in nuclear facilities.
* Assisting in plant modifications, upgrades, and retrofits for improved efficiency and regulatory compliance.
* Evaluating material compatibility and corrosion effects to ensure long-term fluid system integrity.
* Providing technical support and training to plant operators and maintenance personnel.

Who we want to work with:

* Education: Master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field.
* Experience: 3-7 years of experience in fluid system design, thermal-hydraulic analysis, or nuclear plant operations (entry-level positions may require internships or co-op experience).
* Certifications (Preferred): PE (Professional Engineer) license, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) certification, or equivalent industry credentials.
* Expertise in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer principles.
* Proficiency in hydraulic modeling and simulation software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, STAR CCM+, Flowmaster).
* Knowledge of nuclear reactor coolant systems, heat exchangers, and steam turbines.
* Familiarity with ASME BPVC, NRC regulatory requirements, and ANSI standards for nuclear fluid systems.
* Experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) while with finite element analysis (FEA) is a plus.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with engineers, operators, and regulatory agencies.
* Attention to detail and a commitment to nuclear safety and compliance.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects with strict deadlines.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Preferred:

* PhD degree
* IPO experience
* Written and oral fluency in Italian
* Ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization
