CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (Food Retail Sector – PE Fund)
Our client, a mid‑sized company (c. €50m revenue) operating in the FMCG food sector, is currently being acquired by a leading private‑equity fund. The company has internal R&D, manufacturing, and a diversified distribution network that includes own‑brand and third‑party products with a significant export share. The new CFO will shape and support growth in Italy and internationally, working closely with the newly appointed CEO and shareholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Establish and lead the Finance function – design and implement a disciplined financial view that assists the CEO.
* Develop and maintain governing finance processes across Controlling, Accounting and Treasury.
* Set up and deliver management reporting standards (Monthly Reporting Cycle, KPI dashboard, statutory books and tax reports, balance sheet).
* Lead Accounting: ensure robust General Ledger, financial controls, reconciliations and monthly reporting.
* Lead Controlling: produce reliable information for the executive team, deliver planning, budgeting, forecasting cycles and KPI design.
* Lead Treasury: manage cash controls, cash planning, forecasting, inflation and FX management and support financing set up by the PE fund.
* Apply a PMO mindset – act as a catalyst for decision‑making, provide insights on projects and lead new initiatives in alignment with the CEO.
* Coach and develop the existing finance team, fostering a high‑performance culture.
* Partner with the CEO to create a professional culture, influencing behaviours and decisions across functions.
Requirements (Must Have)
* University degree in Economics (or equivalent).
* 15+ years of finance experience in structured, modern, internationally scoped organisations (process industries or food retail preferred).
* Background as CFO, Junior CFO or senior finance professional capable of stepping into a CFO role.
* Solid technical expertise in Accounting & Statutory Balance Sheet, Controlling/FP&A, Treasury, Tax.
* Demonstrated track record of delivering results, shaping finance as a strategic partner and driving growth.
* Business partnership mindset with strong analytical skills, ability to assess market dynamics, risks, and make decisions under uncertainty.
* Leadership capability – dynamic, energetic, results‑oriented, able to guide teams, influence at all levels and build a high‑performance culture.
* Fluency in both Italian and English.
* Experience with private‑equity settings, LBO financing, and M&A is a plus.
Location: Northern Italy, Vicenza area – on‑site presence required.
