We are currently looking for a Software Engineer to join the team in Delft.
About the role
We are seeking a Software Engineer for our Space & Science business unit in Delft, the Netherlands. The role involves developing software for our Data Processing and Analysis systems and services.
Our team delivers solutions that facilitate automated processing of Earth Observation (EO) data and provide both automated and interactive data analysis. We offer environments for scientific users to develop and test data processors and deliver quality control systems for missions like Biomass, Sentinel-1, and Sentinel-5P. Our tools are also used for public services to retrieve and analyze EO data, especially related to atmospheric composition.
Responsibilities
1. Develop software within various projects and for the common toolstack.
2. Collaborate with the software architect on design solutions, reusing existing ones when appropriate.
3. Own and guide team members through the software development process.
4. Deliver software to customers.
5. Communicate with customers regarding project scope and requirements.
6. Provide support to scientific end-users.
Requirements
* Master's degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or a related field, or extensive software engineering experience.
* At least 5 years of experience coding in two or more languages (e.g., C, C++, Python).
* Experience with Linux, including system administration.
* Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team of 5-7 members.
* Ability to produce formal documentation.
* Experience with version control (git), CI/CD (Jenkins/Gitlab), project management (Redmine), virtualization (VMs), and containerization (Docker).
* Nice-to-have skills include experience with Nix/NixOS, Django, Jupyterlab, Terraform, Openstack, front-end development, and scientific visualization.
* Fluency in English; Dutch language skills are a plus.
* Authorized to work in the Netherlands.
