Ph3Location /h3 pLocation: Trieste, 1 Galleria Protti, Italy /p pFire Safety Specialist /p pLloyd’s Register /p h3What we’re looking for /h3 pWe are looking for a fire and safety specialist to provide services to shipbuilders, ship owners and designers. The purpose of this role is mainly to perform appraisal of fire and safety plans for new construction and existing passenger ships and yachts. This in accordance with the applicable statutory standards and class rules set. /p pThe successful candidate would be based at the LR Trieste Office (Italy), part of the LR Global technical Support Office. Proficiency level in Italian would be required. /p h3What we offer you /h3 ul liThe opportunity to work for an organization that has a strong sense of purpose, is values driven and helps colleagues to develop professionally and personally through our range of people development programmes /li liFull-time, permanent position /li /ul h3The role /h3 ul liReview and appraise fire and safety plans (e.g. passive fire protection, fire detection, suppression, fixed fire extinguishing systems, escape, lifesaving appliances) for cruise ships and yachts, in accordance with the applicable statutory standards and class rules. /li liTo provide sound Technical and Regulatory guidance to stakeholders during the design and construction phase and during vessel life cycle and participate in meetings or workshops where is required. /li liTo perform appraisals and provide specialist advice related to the fire safety discipline for service delivery, research, development work, and national or international standards or regulatory bodies within agreed parameters that includes budget constraints and contractual requirements. /li liTo undertake project management where applicable including monitoring project progress and spend against budget and contract requirements /li liTo discuss / present the deliverable with the internal / external client and be able to suggest alternative solutions where appropriate. /li liConduct occasional site visits at various shipyards, client sites, testing laboratories, or production facilities as required to successfully complete projects. /li liConduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards. /li liTo assess the risks, and to work in a safe manner at all times, robustly implementing health and safety rules, instructions and systems and refuse to undertake work that compromises your safety or health. /li liReport in a timely manner all incidents including near miss and safety observations (NMSO), accidents and injuries and raise any health and safety concerns with your line manager. /li /ul h3What you bring /h3 ul liA degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea‑going experience as a certificated ship’s officer. /li liMembership of an appropriate professional institution. /li liWorking towards achieving Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status. /li liProficiency in Italian and good command on English Language commensurate with the work. /li liKnowledge of Classification / Certification / Verification and familiarity with Classification Societies (IACS) Rules is desirable. /li liPrevious experience and or exposure to fire and safety matters would be desirable, specifically in the passenger ships and yachting industry or in a technical office. /li liPossess flexible attitude, effective interpersonal skills, strong analytical skills and can provide technical, commercial, and people communication. /li /ul h3You are someone who /h3 ul liIs keen to take accountability and ownership for delivering customer needs /li liIs able to self‑manage and prioritize tasks towards achieving goals /li liIs effective at solving problems, trouble‑shooting and making timely decisions /li liIs flexible and eager to take initiatives /li liCommunicates in a structured way and has ability to present technical ideas in user‑friendly language /li liDisplays a team spirit, particularly in a multicultural environment /li liResponds positively to learning opportunities and is comfortable stepping out of own comfort zone /li /ul h3Disability Confident Commitment /h3 pAs a Disability Confident Committed Employer, we have committed to : /p ul liensure our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible. /li licommunicating and promoting vacancies offering an interview to disabled people who meet the minimum criteria for the job. /li lianticipating and providing reasonable adjustments as required /li lisupporting any existing employee who acquires a disability or long‑term health condition, enabling them to stay in work. /li liat least one activity that will make a difference for disabled people. /li /ul h3About us /h3 pWe are a leading international technical professional service provider and a leader in classification, compliance, and consultancy services to the marine and offshore industry, a trusted advisor to our customers helping to design, construct and operate their assets to the highest levels of safety and performance.
