We are now embarking on a new chapter of our journey that will further boost CMCC’s global position in climate change research…Together! /ppTo learn more about this opportunity and submit your application, please refer to the following : /ph3Role /h3pAs an AI / ML Developer, you will work closely with the RAAS (Risk Assessment and Adaptation Strategies) research team, contributing to the development of advanced machine learning models tailored to climate multi-hazard risk assessment. /ph3Responsibilities /h3ulliPreprocess and prepare diverse datasets, ensuring data quality and consistency for ML models; /liliDesign, develop, and implement machine learning models using established framework (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras), while adapting state-of-the-art algorithms; /liliDevelop and optimize pipelines for document embedding, chunking, and retrieval in LLM-based systems; /liliIntegrate machine learning models into existing software systems and digital twin platforms used for climate data analysis; /liliStay up to date with the latest AI / ML / LLM research, tools, and techniques, and apply cutting-edge methodologies to climate risk problems; /liliContribute to scientific publications and research papers based on project findings; /liliParticipate in internal knowledge sharing and contribute to the team’s collective expertise /li /ulh3Requirements /h3ulliPhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related research field; /liliExperience with language models and NLP, including transformer-based architectures; familiarity with LLM application stacks, such as RAG architectures, vector databases (e.g. FAISS, ChromaDB), and orchestration frameworks (e.g. LangChain); proven experience in machine learning model development, feature engineering, and model evaluation; /liliStrong proficiency in Python and key libraries such as numpy, pandas, xarray, scikit-learn, and matplotlib; /liliHands-on experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras; /liliExperience with geospatial data processing tools and GIS analysis; /liliSolid understanding of (geo)statistics and the ability to work with climate or environmental datasets; /liliExcellent knowledge of English language; /liliAbility to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment; /liliHigh level of accuracy, analytical thinking, and attention to detail /li /ulh3Duration, Compensation Benefits /h3ulliPlease note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally. /liliThe AI / ML Developers will be based in Venice CMCC office /liliContract and gross annual salary will be based on qualifications and working experience /liliWelfare package, for minimum 12 months contract /liliFlexible working time as per internal policies /liliSupport during the immigration process, if needed /liliPROTECTED CATEGORY /liliBelonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition. /liliSome fiscal benefits could be applied for repatriated workers or foreign researchers / professors, having the requirements defined by Dlgs 147/2015 (for repatriates) or Dl 78/2010 (for foreigners). /liliCMCC is an equal-opportunity employer.
