Milan, Italy DISCOVER your opportunity You will take the lead on all the key aspects of AXA XL Italy underwriting operations in Energy and Construction business within the Country in accordance with the regional and divisional guidelines. This includes but is not limited to portfolio profitability, account pricing, portfolio rate change, renewal retention, marketing, new business production, development of staff and broker and client management.
Manage directly underwriting activity for an assigned portfolio. Develop the portfolio while maximizing profitability by making decisions and recommendations to assist in the development and control of profitable underwriting and monitoring of performance of products and/or schemes and portfolios in accordance with AXA strategy and business plan. Lead and develop a team of Underwriters. Support the team by providing technical training and coaching on a day‑to‑day basis and, as required, more formalised basis. Execute departmental strategy and achieve P&L metrics. Support the business planning and forecasting process; monitor financial exposure and premium income to ensure it remains within set limits. Maintain awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims. Seek, identify and develop opportunities for profitable business with new and existing customers. Develop relationships with stakeholders to ensure that business needs are achieved and enhance visibility on the market with brokers, clients, risk managers and account managers. Collaborate closely with the Distribution Team by providing an effective and efficient service.

Proven experience in underwriting Energy and/or Construction business within commercial insurance. Experience in Property Underwriting activities will be a plus. Ability to tailor risk solutions and analyse complex risks. Strategic view and proactive market engagement with an overview of local and international trends and dynamics. Communicate and work in Spanish and English. Leadership and people management skills. Act as a role model encouraging the team’s commitment and engagement, take initiative to lead independently, and inspire success and thrive talent and AXA culture. Excellent commercial, communication and influencing skills. Able to communicate effectively and partner with brokers and clients, as well as internal stakeholders at all levels. Financial acumen, including monitoring premiums, loss ratios, and portfolio performance. Ability to support business planning, forecasting, and cycle management. Ability to work in a changing environment and navigate the matrix organization.
