Job Description
Role
We are seeking an engineer to join our Numerical Naval Architecture group, focusing on ship survivability modeling and analysis. The successful candidate will be trained to use ship survivability software, develop naval ship models for survivability studies, perform analyses, and contribute to the development and testing of new features of the survivability code. Additional responsibilities include conducting global/local FEM analyses, including air-blast, underwater shock, and whipping studies.
The engineer will be part of a multidisciplinary team of survivability and structural experts, involved in R&D projects and technical consultancy.
Responsibilities
* Ship survivability modeling and analysis
* FEM modeling and analysis
* Preparing technical documents to present and discuss study results
* Contributing to technical proposals for commercial and research projects
* Participating in meetings with clients and partners
Requirements
Education
Master's Degree or PhD in naval architecture, mechanical, aerospace engineering, or related fields
Skills and Experience
* Experience or interest in numerical methods development, validation, and industrial application
* Strong teamwork, problem-solving skills, and customer support orientation
* Understanding of technical drawings (general arrangements)
* Experience with at least one CAD environment
* Basic proficiency in English, written and spoken
* Preferred: Experience with FEM codes (MSC Patran, Nastran, Marc Mentat), CAD codes (Rhinoceros, Microstation), and backgrounds in naval architecture or mechanical design
